Origin
When Mark Merlin’s uncle, a stage magician known as The Mighty Merlin who as a hobby exposed fake mediums and other magician who claimed their magic was real, is killed by a gang of them who he had exposed Mark steps in and reveals the seeming demon attack that was supposed to have killed him was really them, he also finds out that there may have been real supernatural beings involved he, at the suggestion of his girl friend Elsa, becomes an investigator of the weird and supernatural.
While some of his cases involve mystical creatures, most are revealed to be either tricks, super science or aliens, a LOT of aliens.
Eventually events led to Prince Ra-Man taking his place on Earth for a time however it turned out that they were really two different people and Mark returned to the living.
Creators
Created and drawn for most of his career by Mort Meskin while Mark was introduced at the start of the Silver-Age, appearing for the first time in House of Secrets # 23 the same month that the Barry Allen Flash got his comic, he never made much of an impression.
