Buckingham’s comic career began at 2000AD, when he was the artist on Tyranny Rex, written by John Smith. However, he garnered little attention until he worked on Miracleman (Marvelman) in the 1980s. His association with Neil Gaiman led to illustrating a couple of Sandman story arcs as well as the Sandman: Taller Tales graphic novel and two Death miniseries. He also did the art for Hellblazer and Fables, including the original graphic novel, 1001 Nights of Snowfall.

Mark’s work for Marvel Comics runs the gamut from penciling Paul Jenkins’ run on Peter Parker: Spider-Man to inking Chris Bachalo on Ghost Rider 2099 and Generation X.

He is married to TV newscaster and journalist, Irma Page, and lives in .
