In the famous Alfred Hiychcock´s film ´´Psycho´´, Marion is the unhappy girlfriend of Sam Loomis. In her job Marion steals $40,000 and goes on the run. She arrives at the Bates Motel, where she meets the proprietor Norman Bates. They had a dinner together and a little chat. After that, Marion felt guilty and was planing to return the money. She took a shower and is then when she is killed my ´´Norma Bates´´, who really was Norman Bates in disguise.

In Popular Culture

Marion´s death (the ´´shower scene´´) is the most famous death in films. This scene and it´s iconic sceeching violins have been parodied in many films and TV shows like Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Looney Toones: Back in Action, and The Simpsons. It has parodies in comic books like Child´s Play.

The Halloween character Marion Whittington is based on Marion Crane.

Marion in The Simpsons

Marion Crane has even had a cameo appearance in The Simpsons comic book with Sideshow Bob. It was like in the beginning of the film.
