so Instead of Red Hood being a space, which would have made sense giving that Starfire in the Outlaws, they're putting Batwoman in space. So Batwoman go from being maybe a supernatural environment, they're taking her to space.....why?
Weeeeeell, i am excited for Ragman and Etrigan being on the same team. Hopefully they'll either put them in the JLD bark or both of them get their own book.
@hushofthewind: I read the issue. It's really good. I'm excited for this.
@g_man: As long as it does a great seguing from 34, you'll get no complaints outta me. Batwoman has been an exciting read since new 52 started and im glad she's getting her own team to lead(possibly? i mean how do you lead someone like Etrigan who's very well seasoned). Plus as i said before, im ready for some Ragman.
Batwoman's getting her own team and Bette isn't on it. In fact there's no reason for her absence lately. As much as I love Kate, I'm not ready to pick Batwoman if they're gonna continue to treat Bette the same way
"Why not?"
Great reason to go with such a shift... -_-
Also isn't the Oscar Wilde quote, "There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about."?
I have to say that BW seems to have gone from a rather steady approach to the supernatural to strapping a rocket to one boot and then blast her off into the unknown... which to me smells like the same mistake Lemire made with his JLD run.
...and for Pete's sake, could we please get a second in-universe WW book and not all these one-shot digitals?
@hushofthewind: I agree. Batwoman was the only New 52 Batbook I was reading, because I loves me some JH WIlliams III artwork, but when he left, I cut the subscription. Hearing things like "Batman in the Fourth World for the life of Robin!" and "Batwoman in space!" makes me sad. Taking characters out of their established storyworld (Gotham City) and putting them in a setting befitting another genre is weak storytelling. In the 50s when Captain America went from being a superhero book to being a horror book like Tales from the Crypt or Strange Tales, the title's sales went to hell. Likewise, the "zany" Golden Age Superman have been criticized for the bullocks campy way it eroded Superman's mythos. Marc Andreyko is no Rick Remender. I don't believe he can pull this off.
@neghead: I would much rather see a different type of story told than have writers try churning out what's "expected" or what we've seen over and over and over. I read this issue. It's pretty great. And keep in mind, just because she's in space here, no way means the title is turning into a sci-fi book and will take place in outer space for the rest of Andreyko's run. Nowhere has it been said that Batwoman is never returning to Gotham or we'll never have supernatural elements here.
@neghead: what not to like about Batman go to fourth world ? Batman have many times go to fourth world and many cosmic adventure. Did you ever read Superman/Batman pre new 52 where storyline he, Superman, Wonder Woman and Big Barda go to Apokolips to save Supergirl ? Also go read Grant Morrison JLA. It is not the first time Batman travel around outside Gotham
@g_man: Iron Man in space was logical; stories in which Batman or Daredevil have adventures outside of Gotham or Hell's Kitchen respectively are generally well-done, and I didn't even have a problem with Spider-Man being cosmic for a spell [Acts of Vengeance].While I agree that characters and settings should evolve, taking a character so outside of its element doesn't seem strong. You make good points, and so I will work to keep my "raging fanboy" in check. lol
I'd also point out to @boynerdgeek that 1: the tone of JLA stories and Superman/Batman is different than the Batbooks, and 2: I was talking Batwoman, not Batman.
@neghead: I get what you said but well...Robin Rises Omega Part 1 involve Justice League and rest of DC Universe. Yup Robin Rises takes place in Batbook but it is technically DC Universe story. This is kind like Brave and The Bold during silver age but only different is that during silver age it is campy but nowadays the tone is more serious
I'm much more bothered by him saying he wants to turn "Batwoman" into a team book. I mean, expanding the supporting cast to include those other guys would be great, but I'm not sure I want them to be in every single issue acting as a formal team.
Anyway, Kate in space sounds delightful and George Jeanty is a really talented penciller so I'm still looking forward to what's coming up :)
Batwoman hasn't been any good since the previous creative team.
and they split up Kate and Maggie -_-
Not sure how it's possible, but this video tripled the excitement for WW '77. Everything Marc said about it also tripled my respect for him as a creator. Can't wait. I mean literally, I cannot wait, I'm getting the TV show right now. :)
@papinacho: Except breathing. :)
@kilowog52: A twin sister, who was previously a villain.
