I think the army will have a misunderstanding with Superman and think he's the bad guy but after Zod proves how bad he is they'll realize only Superman can stop him. Similar to how the Incredible Hulk ending except with super sonic flight and eye lasers thrown in

@Crash_Recovery: Even the worst of the Superman movies have still been technically successful even Superman 4 made money. So obviously the public is cool with Superman. The only reason Superman Returns didn't get a sequel wasn't that it wasn't financially successful but that it wasn't as successful as WB hoped it would be because it was boring and got bad word of mouth. This movie is practically guaranteed to have a great opening weekend so all it really has to do is get people to enjoy it and maybe come back for a second watch with their friends. The only people that seem to have an actual problem with Superman are hipsters (Who no one gives a s**t about) and Batman fan boys.

Superman Returns wasn't financially successful because WB had been pumping funding into the film for almost a decade before Brian Singer was even attached. Remember the Nic Cage Superman? That R&D, screenwriting, etc all was counted as part of the budget of Returns.

@Stormbox: I'm actually shocked no one has asked him to play a comic book super villain before this to be honest. I can see him scaring the hell out of a great deal of super heroes. Not even just as a super villain, he could just introduce himself and even Wolverine would get nervous
