Learning how to Make Comics
If you are anything like me, then you love comics and may be just reading comics is not enough anymore. I loved Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics and at this point in time I must admit have not read Reinventing Comics. I am a purest when it comes to comics and enjoy it on paper and have still resisted technology for my sequential art fix, this book did a great job to open my eyes to the potential of Pictures and Words playing together on any method of desplay.
I was a big fan of how he made facial expressions math equations and I hate math. This graphic novel is a lot to digest because it is a lot of information from an expert. This book took me a few weeks on and off to truly read and understand. Those few weeks was one of the most entertaining self-taught courses I gave myself. I would read a chapter and then read a few comics to see what I learned and how effective Scott's formulas are or the appreciation I was getting from the worlds that are built.
I absolutely love this book and would recommended it to anyone who loves comics. It does not have to be for those who want to make comics, since there are a lot of entertaining and funny moments. I would gladly have this side by side with Understanding Comics and look forward to the next "How to" book from Scott McCloud.
Cheers
