A New Justice League?
I remember when I was a teenager and I couldn´t afford much comic books (at the time I didn´t have any money and american comics here in Brazil were so much expensive), but every month or two I used to buy the Wizard Magazine and in the Top Ten comic books there was always a strange comic by the name of "Major Bummer" - this series was never printed in Brazil and about a month ago I decided to fullfil this teen dream of finding out what this comic was about. I bought the entire collection (15 issues) in www.milehigh comics.com and now I´m going to review it for you guys. The story behind this series isn´t something completely strange or different from any other teen dream of becoming a super hero, who here never thought of becoming a super hero once? So when a strange package arrives to teenage-no girlfriend - stuck in a stupid job - addicted to video game - living in a small room named Lou Martin is delivered to his home and what´s inside makes him a steroid-giant-muscle man-capable of building weapons, there´s definitely a tone for comedy and fun at the beginning of this story that I sure hope so stays at the entire series. The best thing in the writing was the dialogues, the street talk, the urban life designed by John Arcudi, but I really didn´t enjoy the plot too much, especially the other super heroes. For the art, this is the best thing in this issue, Mahnke delivered amazing art and Feeny´s colors are great too. I´m going to wait and see if this series evolves to be as entertaining as I´m hoping to, so I can give a better rate.
