History

Mai Shiranui is the granddaughter of Andy Bogard's Koppoken instructor, Hanzo Shiranui. Koppoken is an extremely lethal close combat system and her grandfather is one of the best in Japan. Mai quickly fell in love with Andy, even at such a young age, and was heartbroken when he left to get his revenge upon the man who killed his father, Geese Howard. Andy was unsuccessful in defeating Geese as it was Terry who defeated their father's killer, and left for further training to improve himself.

Mai and Andy were reunited when Andy returned to Japan to study with judo master Jubei Yamada. When Geese's half brother Wolfgang Krauser arranged a new tournament, the Bogard brothers, Joe and Mai were invited to compete. Once again, Terry would be victorious but Mai cared little for that now that she was reunited with Andy.

King of Fighters: Maximum Impact - Maniax

Mai, Terry Bogard, Athena Asamiya, and Rock Howard are enjoying themselves when they are approached by several figures, the one that catches Terry's attention is the alluring Lien Neville. Mai engages the blonde assassin and throws some of her best attacks at Lien only for her to almost shrug them off and land a killing blow to her. Terry stops her and agrees to go to the meeting with Lien's boss.
