Magneto is one of the most infamous and powerful mutants, possessing mastery over magnetism. He has played many roles in his long life: prisoner, survivor, terrorist, savior, conqueror, teacher, villain, and anti-hero. Magneto is the X-Men's oldest foe, and one of their greatest allies.

Should the films expand more on Magneto's powers?

I think there is a reason why they made Magneto not as powerful as he is in the comics. If Magneto were as powerful, then he would be unbeatable, and that wouldn't help the plot of the film.  Furthermore, the powers that Magneto has had in the films appear more "realistic" compared to his other powers in the comics, and these powers probably would cost a lot of money for them.

Probably the script writer and director themselves didn't understand that much about his feats.

they movie magneto powers were good for the movie 
but not for magneto in comics

True. If they stayed true with Magneto of the comics they should've also used a body builder for the actor and not Sir Ian... Nyehehehe!

Hey do not dis Gandalf he visited my school ages ago but yeah mags in the film is pathetic compared to magneto in comics but he worked and speaking about power xavier was a bitch in those films.
