Not A Villain

This mini-series continues with some pretty great story. Let me just get it out of the way - the undoing of the comic book death is dumb. It barely even makes sense within the Marvel universe. But let’s just leave that aside. The story is a good Magneto character study. Both he and Professor X have grown a LOT since Grant Morrison’s New X-Men run. They’ve been picked apart and shown to be not all that different. The phrase two sides of the same coin wouldn’t be too cliche to describe them as all the revelations about Charles’ past have emerged in the wake of Deadly Genesis.

So now Magneto confronts how he’s changed as well as how Cyclops has evolved. Overall, great for the story even if it may eventually end up hard figuring out just where it fits in the continuity.

THE GOODThough it was mostly dialog and back story, I still believe this book deserves a read. I really enjoyed the art and writing (for both stories). In fact, the flashback probably made the issue for me. That is not to say that the "present day" story didn't do it for me, it just was slow and "fillery". This mini series was rumored to bring back Magneto as a villain however so far Magneto is still playing the role as a X-Man. Magneto confronts the Magneto imitator Joseph and his former ally of The Brotherhood Of Evil Mutants, Astra. Joseph believing in his role as the new Magneto, belittles yet under estimates the Master Of Magnetism, Erik Lensherr. Now Magneto will have to confront his demons to see where he really stands as a hero. Will he succeed or be over whelm by the past that haunts him....
