    Lyra Heartstrings is one of many of the stock background characters of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, who has gained popularity among the fandom over the years. Lyra first appeared in the first episode of the series and since then has appeared in the background or in various crowd shots in various locations throughout the series. The main thing Lyra is famous for in the fandom is the scene in episode seven "Dragonshy" where she is seen siting on a bench in a human like position. Since this scene the fandom has inspired the popular meme about Lyra having a human obsession, particularly hands. Other than this she is always seen around a earth pony named Sweetie Drops (Bon Bon) which has led to shipping in the fandom.

    Lyra has also appeared in the comics for the series first appearing the during "The Return of Queen Chrysalis" story arc as one of the many ponies in Ponyville who have been replaced by a Changeling.
