    The Story:

Lex Luthor has long been Superman's arch enemy. He has always claimed to have humanities best interest at heart believing Superman to be a threat. This mini-series displays a more in-depth look into Lex Luthor's mind showing why he despises the Man Of Steel.

    My Thoughts:

The acclaimed team of Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo (100 Bullets, Joker) deliver readers a more in-depth look into the mind of Lex Luthor. Longtime adversary and arch enemy of Superman, Lex Luthor has always done everything in his power to stop the Man Of Steel. This story displays Luthor's reasons for doing so. Powerful, relentless and brilliant is Lex Luthor whose life ambition has become destroying not only Superman himself, but everyone's perception of Superman. He so proverbially claims he wishes not to take Superman down, but to take humanity up.

The added appearances of Batman, Alfred and Toyman only made this more enjoyable of a read. Lex Luthor meets with Bruce Wayne and the dialogue during their encounter was well written. The part where Lex Luthor made Hope drop Toyman only to have Superman fly in and save his life even though he set off a bomb was a true and accurate depiction of Superman's character. The morality was heartfelt. Karma came back around on Luthor clearly showing that truth and justice will overcome any obstacle. As he tried to diminish Superman's reputation, he inadvertently strengthened it.

Lee Bermejo handles the art to perfection. If you've seen his work on Joker then you know how talented he truly is. The way he draws both Lex Luthor and Superman is just awesome. The dark tone of the art helps reflects Lex Luthor's personality.

This comic definitely deserves a spot in your collection. Any Superman/Lex Luthor fan should enjoy this fresh story displaying Lex Luthor's personality in a new light and different perspective. This hardcover edition collects the original Lex Luthor: Man Of Steel mini-series with ten new pages added to it.
