Luke was born on Polis Massa nineteen years before the Battle of Yavin. Shortly after Leia's birth Padme Amidala died, leaving Luke and Leia orphans. Obi-wan brought Luke to his uncle Owen Lars and aunt Beru Lars on Tatooine.
Luke is responsible for the destruction of the First Death Star. He also helped take down the First Galactic Empire. He first appeared in the 1977 movie "Star Wars" [later renamed "A New Hope"]. He has been the main protagonist in many adaptations of Star Wars. In the movie Empire Strikes Back, Luke meets a ghost of Obi-Wan Kenobi that tells him to go to Dagobah to be trained by Yoda. During his training Luke sense that his friends were being held hostage on Bespin and he would go there and try to rescue them but Han Solo was brought to Jabba the Hutt.
Storyline
Luke Skywalker chronologically first appeared in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. He is seen as being born by Padme Amidala, just before his twin sister Leia was born. Padme dies during childbirth, and Obi-Wan and Yoda hide the children from Emperor Palpatine, so he cannot use them to take over the galaxy. Leia was taken to Alderaan and raised as a princess. Luke, on the other hand, was taken to Tatooine to become a moisture famer. Obi-Wan traveled to Tatooine to keep an eye on Luke in his childhood years. During that time period, Luke would have friction with his uncle because his adventurous tendency went against his uncle's moral values. He would go around cruising in his landspeeder and blast womp rats in his T-16 skyhopper while hoping to have a chance denied by his uncle at the Imperial Academy. Like his father, he had a knack for mechanical repairs and fixed droids and moisture vaporators. He was also told by his uncle that his father Anakin had been a navigator on a spice freighter. Luke would also group with several friends, including Biggs Darklighter who later left for the Academy.
Nineteen years later, Luke still lives on Tatooine, in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. Soon, he encounters two droids, one named C-3PO and the other R2-D2. R2-D2 has a message from Princess Leia Organa for Obi-Wan, who is known as Ben Kenobi on Tatooine. Obi-Wan tells Luke that his father was a Jedi Knight killed by Darth Vader, and offers to take him to Alderaan. He also gives Luke his father's lightsaber. After discovering that his aunt and uncle were killed by stormtroopers, Luke takes Obi-Wan's offer to travel to Alderaan. They board the Millennium Falcon, a ship owned by Han Solo and Chewbacca. It is on that ship that Obi-Wan first instructs him in the way of the Force. When they arrive at Alderaan, they discover that it has been destroyed by the Empire's new super-weapon, the Death Star. The crew is taken by the Death Star's tractor beam and have to try to blend in, including Luke and Han being disguised as stormtroopers. Obi-Wan would disable the tractor beam, while Luke discovers Princess Leia being held captive and gets Han and Chewbacca to help him. They rescue the princess and end up having to go through a garbage compactor where they are saved by R2-D2's intervention. Han and Chewbacca would then hold off the stromtroopers while Luke swings Leia to safety on a grappling hook. The party later meets near the Millenium Falcon. However, in an encounter with Darth Vader, Obi-Wan sacrifices himself so that the others can escape. They make it to the Rebel Base unaware that they were being tracked by the Death Star. Luke later showed off his piloting skills in the Rebel flight simulators and was approached to be assigned as Red Five. Before boarding, he even encountered his friend Biggs Darklighter. While piloting his X-Wing starfighter in a mission to destroy the Death Star, he sees many fellow pilots die, including Biggs. He is targeted by Darth Vader's Tie Advanced x1 and is saved by Han Solo's intervention. In an epic ending, the Death Star is destroyed by Luke's Force-guided proton torpedoes, thanks to the advice of Obi-Wan's spirit.
Later, Luke would find himself in all the adventure he had craved when on Tatooine, including fighting pirates and Imperial forces. When crash-landing on the system of Hoth, Luke informed his superiors of the isolation and they evacuated Yavin IV to Hoth. After that, Luke would then be made commander. He, accompanied by Leia, C-3PO, and R2-D2, has one such mission to the Circarpous system when they crash-land on Mimban. They met a Force-sensitive woman called Halla who they made a deal with; find the powerful Kaiburr crystal for her and she will help them escape the planet. Unfortunately for them, Darth Vader was also in search of the crystal. Leia briefly dueled Vader with Luke's lightsaber before the Sith disarmed her. Luke would then intervene in this and clash blades with the Dark Lord for the first time. Luke had the advantage, being empowered by the crystal and guided by Obi-Wan, even managing to sever Vader's arm. After Vader fell into a well, the Rebels escaped.
Three years later, in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back, Luke executes his rank Commander of the Rebel Alliance. On a mission to Hoth, Luke is almost killed by a Wampa, but using some tricky manuevering, the Force, and his lightsaber, he is able to escape with his life. While on the icy planet, Luke sees a vision of Obi-Wan's ghost. Obi-Wan tells Luke to go to the planet Dagobah, and continue his Jedi training with Master Yoda. Luke escapes a battle on Hoth on his X-Wing. He travels to Dagobah, and is trained by Yoda to strengthen his use of the Force. While training, Luke gets a vision of his friends in great pain, in Cloud City. Going against the advice of Yoda and Obi-Wan, Luke flies to Cloud City to rescue his friends. While there, he encounters Darth Vader again, and is engaged in a fearsome lightsaber battle. The more experienced Vader wins the battle, and cuts off Luke's hand. It is then revealed that Darth Vader is Luke's true father. He offers to Luke to join the Dark Side, but Luke refuses by jumping into a reactor chasm. Before falling to his death, however, Luke is sucked into a garbage chute, and is left hanging from a weather vane. Sensing Luke's danger, Leia flies the Millennium Falcon to his rescue. While on board, Luke's hand is replaced by a robotic hand.
In Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, Luke and his team save Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt. But before he could complete his mission, Luke is dropped into a pit with the Rancor. After a fierce battle, Luke defeats the rancor and escapes. Infuriated, Jabba throws Luke into the Pit of the Carkoon, which contains the Sarlacc. R2-D2 helps Luke escape, and eventually destroy Jabba the Hutt's barge. Luke returns to Dagobah, to find a dying Yoda. Yoda verifies that Darth Vader is Luke's father, and Obi-Wan's ghost tells Luke that Leia is his twin sister. Luke soon travels to Endor, to try and convince his father to join the Rebel Alliance, but Luke is asked to join the Dark Side in response. A fight breaks out between Luke and Darth Vader, which ends in Luke severing his father's mechanical arm. Then, after refusing to kill his father, Emperor Palpatine uses Force lightning on Luke. In severe pain, Luke calls out to his father. Anakin Skywalker throws Palpatine into a reactor shaft. Luke removes the dying Anakin's mask, and looks into his father's eyes. Before he dies, Anakin tells his son that there is still some good in him. Luke escapes the second Death Star with his father's corpse, and in Jedi tradition, burns his remains. In celebration of victory, Luke sees the smiling faces of Obi-Wan, Yoda, and his father.
He would later go on to take Yoda place as head of the Jedi. Marry after many of fighting against and along side of Mara Jade. They would have one son whom they named Ben after Obi-wan Kenobi
