Erik was originally a mercenary convinced by the Enchantress to undergo ionic ray treatment that made him super strong. After adopting the Name Power Man and joining forces with the Enchantress for awhile, he decided to go on to become a supervillain on his own later joining teams such as the Lethal Legion and the Masters of Evil.
