You know one of the few aspects that i dislike about Batman is not he is a genius, but a scientific genius, there is a difference

I am perfectly fine with Batman being a Master of martial arts, Yoga and meditation, tactics and strategy as well as being just a highly cult and educated man

but the idea that he can pretty much create all of his gadgets its just ridiculous, that he has the time, not only to design them, build them and test them and so forth and this not including the gadgets that he has in his belt but also the Batmoviles, the jet, and boats, hell he had Rocket too, and once again, he had the time and genius to design and build ON HIS OWN a flying Batmovile, Which was awesome, and is sadly no longer used

So coincidentally one of the greatest aspects for me on the Nolan movies is Morgan Freeman as Lucious Fox, and how he became practically an indispensable ally for Batman, not only managing the company but also inventing the Batmovile, the batsuit and pretty much all of his gadgets

It is just more realistic

and in a side note i have been enjoying Batman by Scott Snyder and one of the aspects that i have loved about it is all the new gadgets that he have came up with to add on Batman and most of them are awesome

the sad part is that all are invented by batman himself, Is just hard to buy that besides being a crime fighter and a millionaire who is launching a huge city renovation, he also has the time to invent contact lens that can be connected wireless to a supercomputer

Shouldnt this be Lucius Job?

Without being an expert on Batman I agree. Lucius Fox was also one of the things I liked about Nolan’s movies.

Lucius has appeared in Batman, Incorporated #0. Oh and yep, Lucias should be more prominent in the Bat-books.

yeah and he is in charge of making the Batrobots but why isnt he doing something else and why isnt he more relevant in the other books

Im actually surprised that he wasnt retconned into the origin like in the movies with the new 52 and it would had been a good change

Yeah, Grant is the only one who really uses him. Not sure why they don't use him, especially considering the movie versions popularity.

I completely agree. Batman should definitely have at least a basic knowledge of how his gadgets are made but the technical stuff and implementing of Batman's ideas should go to Lucius.

Can we please stop letting comic book movies dictate what happens in the comics?

@ RustyRoy Why? If you think that inspiration is going from comic book to another media like TV show animated series or movie. You are naive. If a writer like an idea from a movie or a TV show why not role with it? A lot of inspiration comes from other movies or TV shows, so that a superhero TV show/movie shouldn’t inspired the comics is inevitably. If you don't want this to happen you might as well ban all super hero TV shows, animated TV series, movies, role play, videogames, board/card games, theater plays all together. Comic will like any other media get influenced and is not immune to this. Instead of looking where the idea is coming from you should decide if it is a good idea or not. Just because the idea comes from another media does not mean it is a bad one.

I agree that's usually a bad thing, but I do agree with this particular idea.

@tupiaz: I completely agree. Its a two way street, the comics influence the movies, TV show, and video games, and the movies, TV shows and video games influence the comic books. Alot of people these days are introduced into the comic world through the movies, I was one of these people, and if the comic books have little to no trace of the movies I think we'll lose a lot of readers.

@ Imagine_Man15 As I said it should be a chase by chase idea rather than a total ban. @ nikonwonder Every reader under 30 has more or less meet comic heroes in another media.

then we wouldnt have Barbara Gordon or Harley Quinn, and Alfred would probably stayed dead since the original Outsider storyline(this is true, he was revived in the comic cause he was going to appear in the first batman movie)

but i generally agree, it is not necessary to follow the TV or movies, but in this case is different

like i said, the whole idea that Batman has not only the expertise but the time to build all his gadgets and his vehicles, on top of all his other abilities, its ridiculous and unnecesary when the movies prove that the role of Lucius can be not only effective but efficient

Agree 100%, some of this stuff is getting ridiculous

#16 Posted by jloneblackheart (5267 posts) - 6 months, 25 days ago - Show Bio

@arnoldoaad: There have been instances where it worked out well. I'm mostly thinking of recently and how it's been done by Marvel. They are replacing characters with inferior versions. Now it's even getting preemptive, the Guardians of the Galaxy being changed beforehand, most likely to match the upcoming movie. They are more than happy to cater to the moviegoers, who will never buy the comics, and alienate their existing readers.

I actually like this idea of Lucius having a bigger role. Most people think Batman is the best because he is such a believable character. I see him as the opposite - a human doing things no human could possible do or achieve with a human body and mind. The more help he could get, the more sense it would make.
