Nominated for 5 Eisner Awards - including "Best New Series!" "Dalliance With the Dead," part 1 of 3. Sword fights and seduction become the entertainment as Lucifer organizes a grand ball to celebrate the completion of his new kingdom. As word spreads about his cosmos, adversaries choose either to become one of the Morningstar's inhabitants or join forces for a full frontal assault.

An uprising begins in Effrul, a domain in Hell when one of the demons, Duke Seviram, begins to reminisce of the days when Lucifer lorded over Hell and yearns for those days once again. So it is that he slowly begins to gather followers around himself until at last he begins the final phase in their plan, sending a message to Lord Lucifer to return to Hell, signed by the Lord Arux! Of course that is not the only story, a seemingly unimportant story that will grow to become one of the main ones within the volume begins when Hell's whore, Lady Lys asks for one of the Damned to be given to her as a lover, and who else would this man be than Christopher Rudd...a murderer and Lys' new toy.
