    Generican Horror Story

This cover's not nearly as good as the first one, it's smashed right into your face and barely lets you register what's really going on. On top of that, it's depicting one single moment from the issue that has a really confusing context unlike anything else in the issue. Overall it's just awkward.

The opening scene is actually pretty intense. There's a lot of excellent panels that shy away from showing you the whole story, even though it's quickly obvious what's happening. It's a painfully realistic cruelty of mankind, and it's a really nice lead-in to a comic like this.

Other than that, though ,the rest of this issue plays out classic haunted house tropes in a very standard manner. The youngest kid goes missing, each person meets different zombie things, a ghost gives the husband a warning, a childish depiction of the family dead drawn in blood on the wall; and not a single character manages to show any kind of depth. They're just kind of an average family and nothing more. Oh and then there's a really badly executed 'misunderstanding' where a scantily clad woman attempts to seduce the husband. It wasn't working, but his wife shows up RIGHT AT THAT MOMENT and he's just kind of stupid about how he tries to explain it and she completely flips her lid. Also the artwork's just not as powerful, all the zombies or ghosts or whatever are a pretty generic kind of 'grotesque' that really isn't 'scary' or any kind of unique to make in cool.

The only good hook in the story, adding to the feel I had from the first issue in terms of enjoying the mystery more than the horror, was the final page. It was quite an unexpected moment that opens up more questions.

    In Conclusion: 2/5

Eh. I'm curious to see how this plays out in terms of the mystery, but overall this is just a collection of horror cliches thrust upon a completely flat family.
