Look, Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman" documents the history of Superman, from his birth at the hands of Superman creators Joe Shuster and Jerry Siegel, to his death and resurrection at the hands of Doomsday, and to his long-awaited return in the movie Superman Returns, which was released coinciding with the documentary just after it was released. The documentary details almost all of Superman's appearances in media, such as Superman's appearance in the Fleischer cartoons of the early 1940's, his own live-action television series starring George Reeves, and the hit 1978 live-action movie starring Christopher Reeve. The documentary also details many of Superman's appearances in the comic books as well.
The documentary was narrated by Kevin Spacey, who would play as Superman's arch nemesis Lex Luthor in Superman Returns. The documentary features appearance from several people, some who were directly related to Superman media such as Brandon Routh (who starred as Superman in Superman Returns), Richard Donner (director of the 1978 Superman film), Dean Cain (who played Superman in the 1990's television series "Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman", Margot Kidder (who played Lois Lane in the 1978 Superman film), and many others. The documentary also starred people in the comic book industry such as Mark Waid, Gail Simone, and even Stan Lee (well known for his works at Marvel comics). The documentary even included the likes of actor Mark Hamill, and musician Gene Simmons who highlighted their experiences and memories with the character of Superman.
