ThorMAJOR-SPOILER were you almost rooting for LOKI?

Just saw the movie, great character material, great set, great acting.
I almost found myself cheering for the Loki character, weird!?!

I think Kenneth and Tom added so much material and dimension to Loki
Did you almost cheer for Loki?

Granted...Loki was portrayed amazingly.

However, what did he do to make you root for him?

Unless you're saying that you almost rooted for him just because the actor portrayed him so well.

In either case...it doesn't make sense.

If you were rooting for Loki you are in, all likelihood, intrisically evil.

I did not even come any where near cheering for the vile, manipulative, snake.

I actually liked Loki a lot and even as messed up and evil as he was I think he would have made a far better King than Thor. Loki is this kind of person who has a deep, deep mental character flaw. He does crazy stuff because he can't help it, like Tiger Woods is a great sports star but can't help grind his hip into random call girls or how Mel Gibson is a very good action star and made some interesting movies but can't help but go insane every couple of months, say crazy stuff against jews and get drunk and say other crazy stuff...these character flaws do not take away from their abilities
Now in no way to I condone or support anything Mel Gibson or Tiger Woods have done that's wrong, all I have said is they are still great actors, great golf players etc

Loki to me was still a man capable of being a great Asgardian

The character portrayal kinda reminded me of some the crazy people I have meet in my life

You could almost agree with his argument of saving Asgard from his brothers 'idiotic rule' for a few years, because to be honest thats a valid point.
"

Would it really have been idiotic?

Thor's actions that got him banished from Asgard were brought upon by the frost giants that "somehow" got into Asgard.

Thor looked at that as an act of war.

However, Loki was the one behind it all. Therefore...if Loki had done nothing...than Thor wouldn't have felt the need to go to war with the frost giants.

@Vitality: If he had taken time to think though the situation like Odin did then he wouldn't have run the risk of plunging the nine realms into another cycle of war, he looked for only one option and entertained no other, one that could have cost countless lives, he couldn't see past his own ego, he needed to be humbled and although extreme Loki's actions aided in this.

My point is that...if Loki had not done what he did....Thor would not have done what he did.

Odin says...and I'm paraphrasing...."A king must never want to wage war...but he must always be prepared for it".

Sure...those few frost giants failed...but the fact is that they tried to take back their source of great power. Why would they need that power if not for war?

@Vitality: True but regardless of what Loki did it was Thor's choice to react the way he did

I had some sympathy for Loki, despite his malicious intents.

Naw... I was not rooting for Loki... I was actually rooting for a Nude Scene with Natalie Portman in the Movie... :P

I saw myself liking this Loki, I understood him even though he went about it in a wrong way.  His father lied to him, he was always treated like a second fiddle, and saved his people from Thor acting quite foolish.

I rooted for Loki a little, because he was less evil, and more of a neglected child. He was always treated lesser than his brother, who was supposed to be his equal, only to watch as said brother, who is brash, conceited, brutish, and a little bit of a d!ck, take the throne and with Thor's mindset at the time, would have probably led to the deaths of many asgardians. Not only that, he learns that his entire life was a lie, and that he is actually the descendant of a race that he was taught was dangerous and inferior. And even when he seemingly betrayed Asgard, he did it to prove to his father that he was good enough to rule and protect Asgard and was worthy to be his son, only to be stopped by the prodigal son, Thor. I actually had a lot of sympathy for Loki. Kinda like Satan from "Paradise Lost". I'm not inherently evil, its just that I could understand how those condition could warp someone's mind, and sense of right and wrong. Plus, Hiddleston's portrayal of the character was spot on, and you could really see the malice and pain in Loki's eyes

i didnt root for him but i like how they made the audience sympathise him. the actor who played him played him spot on

I leveled with Hiddleston's portrayal just a bit. I really liked him in the film and in the end you could tell he truly thought he was doing good. I am eagerly awaiting for the Avengers and another chance to see Loki in action.

Nah I wasn't rooting for Loki, but I would've loved to see more scenes where Thor and Loki fought side by side.

Overall the film had excellent acting and Tom Hiddleston brought Loki to life.

I find myself rooting for Loki alot, not so much in this movie though. In Thor and Loki: Blood Brother's I feel compelled to side with him.
