From the Start
Lois is the daughter of Sam and Ella Lane. She was depicted as a young girl, her parents being farmers from a town called Pittsdale. In recent comics, her father was a retired solider, teaching Lois in unarmed combat and weaponry. Lois also has a younger sister, Lucy. Lois did not fall in love with Superman or Clark straight away, but after some time, they began dating. Recently, they wed, with Clark revealing his dual identity.
When she was fifteen, she asked to be employed at the Daily Planet. She lied and said that she was nineteen so she could get the job, but her younger sister, Lucy Lane outed her. Lois overheard from some reporters that whoever got scoop on Lex Luthor would receive some high praise from Perry White, the editor. Lois, doing the impossible sneaked out of her house and into Lex's and swooped some files. She was caught by Lex but was let off. Perry was impressed and hired her.
Lois quickly became a popular and known reporter, especially when she met Superman. When she was aboard a plane called the Constitution, the plane was out of control when a man came and saved them, putting the plane on the ground. She rushed out of the shuttle and got to him, though the crowd surrounded him and he flew away. Lois got the byline and was the first person to call him that the whole world would soon call him by: Superman.
Lois had a hard time tracking him down, so she decided to "commit" an accident to bring him in. She drove her car into the bay and Superman came in, saving her just in time and agreed to be interviewed by her. When Lois turned in the interview, she found out that another reporter, had already presented it to Perry. A reporter named Clark Kent.
When Wonder Woman invited twelve outsiders to have a tour through Themyscira, Wonder Woman initially invited Superman, though he was busy and suggested Lois Lane. She accepted and helped Wonder Woman battle against Ares' daughter, Eris.
Lois and Clark
After dating for a while, Clark proposed to Lois with an engagement ring. Lois had to take care of her sick mother, but she accepted later that night. Some time after, Clark finally revealed his dual identity and accepted, knowing that she could help him out. Clark beat her to the report of the Parasite and Lois was determined to get even. There was a man called Jeb Friedman who took strong interest in Lois, despite the fact that she was engaged. The only reason why Lois was interested in him was his connection to Intergang. Lois went home with her mum recovered, and Angstrom attacked her father until Superman came and he escaped. Lois said that she would report on Angstrom's attack, though Newstime beat her to it. Jeb and Lois became friends in the end, and Clark was a little jealous.
Charlie, a friend of Lois tipped her off about a plot by the Underworlders where they would take over Metropolis. She follows the tip and is captured by Clawster and is taken prisoner. Luckily for Lois, Keith Roberts (Perry's adopted son) alerts Clark to the situation and Superman saves Lois and foils the plans.
DC wanted the two to be married simultaneously on the TV series and comics, so they had to postpone the marriage in the comics. There came Superman's death involving Doomsday. Lois had to write about this, taking care that Superman and Clark were two different identities. She went to both funerals and the Kents and Lana Lang to clear out his apartment and agreed to keep his dual identities secret. Superman's body was stolen from his grave by Cadmus. She wrote the story and Supergirl retrieved it. When Jon Kent had a heart attack Lois went to Smallville to take care of Martha. Jon recovered though he had seen Clark and brought him back to life with him. Lois went back to Metropolis with many stories of Superman on newspapers. They also found an empty tomb at his grave.
Lois Reveals Lex's Truth
When there were four Supermen alive, and Lois interviewed each one, skeptical of them. A fifth person then showed up. Lois was skeptical of this one too, but then he knew much more than the previous four. Clark went to battle in Engine City and returned with all his powers.
Lois then began investigating LexCorp and the suspicion of insurance fraud. The suspicions were true, though she didn't think Lex Luthor II was involved. He agreed to an interview the next day. During the interview, he confesses that he wants a city, though he has nothing to do with the fraud. He makes a pass at her, letting Lois know that father and son have many things in common. Lois then ran a story on a fake hostage situation at a retirement home, because the people living there felt they were living in poor conditions. From that, she learnt that the foreman who had been interviewed by her was almost killed by a group called Nuclear Waste, and Superman saved him. In the hospital, the foreman told Lois that Lex fired him, and Lois was now convinced that Lex was behind the attempted murder.
Clark offered Lois to spend a day in Paris, and when they came back they heard terrible news that Cat Grant's son Adam was murdered. She and Clark attended the funeral and heard from Cat that Lex Luthor II's personal trainer, Sasha also disappeared. Lois questioned some of the staff at LexCorp. She remembered seeing her at Superman's funeral when she hit Lex and he was red with anger. That was the last day anyone had seen her. One of the staff confessed that her changing room had closed the day she gone missing.
Lex tried to create another Bizarro, but it escaped and went to Lois' apartment and kidnapped her. Lois freed herself and Bizarro died. Lex got Bizarro back and Lois and Superman save him, but Bizarro dies in her arms. Lois receives information from a contact that Lex Luthor II is infact the first Lex, just a clone in another body. Lois attempts to reveal the truth, but due to his power, she is unsuccessful. Lex also makes Lois look like a negative reporter, planting evidence in which she is accused for embezzlement. Lex also firebombs Lois' apartment which contained the tape that caught Lex attempting the murder of Sasha. Her contact from before is finally revealed, someone called Dr. Gertude Kelly. With her help, she proves that Lex is in fact a clone. She also discovers Lex's plan to detonate bombs around Metropolis. Firing missiles at the heart of the city, the Daily Planet crumbles, with Lois caught under the globe. Superman saves her from it.
After Zero Hour, Clark realises that he is on a hitlist, and Lois convinces him to find out who it is. The hitman reveals himself however, and it is Conduit who is really Kenny Braverman from Smallville. When a body is discovered in Superman's tomb, Lois starts doubting Clark, though they discover that it is in fact an illusion from Braniac.
Strain Between Clark and Lois
Clark, Lois and Jimmy went to a reporter's convention when they were attacked by Arclight, who hated all reporters. Agent Liberty came in and saved Lois, but even with Superman's help, Arclight escaped. When Perry decided to use Ron Troupe's story instead of Jimmy's, he quit.
Conduit had learnt that Superman and Clark was the same person thanks to Shadowdragon. Conduit then decided that he should go after everyone Clark knew and cared about. He went after Lois. She managed to throw him off but in the end she was tracked down. As Superman was rushing to the scene to save Lois, Conduit detonated a bomb which was believed to kill Lois but she managed to escape. Conduit thinking she was dead managed to stay ahead of him and tracked down Clark and his parents who had gone into hiding. She crossed Shadowdragon and told her that he had all the information on Superman and that Jimmy was kidnapped by Conduit. Lois finally tracks down the Kents and Clark confesses that perhaps he should just stay as Superman and erase Clark. Lois disagreed, showing him how much he would miss if he did so. During this time, Lois was also investigating a serial killer called Saviour.
Both returned to Metropolis when Alpha Centurion also arrives. In an alternate version, Lois was involved with him and that made Clark a little jealous. So when the one in their universe turned up, Clark was very uneasy. Despite Lois' reassurances that she was made for him, Alpha does hit on her repeatedly. This makes it awkward as Lois calls for help because Superman is kidnapped by aliens. Alpha calls in a squad to help and rescues him. Lois and Clark's relationship become even more strained when Clark's role as Superman overtakes their relationship. When Lori Lemaris shows up, Lois was threatened by her because of her beauty (she was really a telepathic mermaid). Lois still lets Lori stay with them, and later Lori admits that Clark once asked her to marry him back in college. This angered Lois, that he never mentioned this to her. Lois is then poisoned by Joker to get Superman to murder him. Superman doesn't kill Joker thanks to Batman, even if it does mean letting Lois die. Lois recovers and is unsure about Superman killing to keep her alive. Superman's duties get in the way once again and Lois breaks it off and hands him back his ring. Clark tries to convince Lois to get back with him, but she is reluctant.
However, Lois thinks about Clark's attempts at trying to get her back, and both fly to Mt. Fuji talk. Even as they're speaking, Superman gets a call for help. In Metropolis, she searches for some hot scoop to keep her mind off Clark. She does her research on Contessa Erica Alexandra del Portenza, the CEO of LexCorp. She learns that Lex and Contessa are working together and plan to marry soon. Jimmy Olsen, however, working for another paper reports the story before her. Lois is stressed and decides to take a job as a foreign correspondant and saying good-bye to everyone, leaves.
Finally Wed
When the two marry on the TV series Lois and Clark, the comic writers decide that they get back together in a hasty manner and got married. Lucy Lane was Maid of Honour and Jimmy Olsen was Best Man. Lois' dad almost doesn't show up due to a fight but arrives during the last minute. Surprisingly, Bruce Wayne offers an apartment for them at 1938 Sullivan St. in Metropolis. Lucy, as a wedding gift, gave them tickets to Hawaii. During their honeymoon, they were attacked and Clark was kidnapped. Lois was forced to follow and single-handedly rescued him. A week before the wedding, Clark had been approached by Maxima offering him to wed with her. She discovered that Clark was powerless and flew off, disgusted. Once Clark regained his powers, she offered again, though he turned her down and they both fought, though he was able to show her to the door.
Back in Metropolis, a man that looked like Clark is murdered. Both investigate and discover that Intergang are involved in this. Lois discovers that Clark seems to be phasing out. Things got even worse when Atomic Skull broke out of prison and kidnapped Lois thinking it was his long lost love, Zelda. Lois, working with the Metropolis Special Crimes Unit puts Atomic Skull back into prison. Some suspicious help from Lex and the Contessa stabilize Superman leading him into a phase known as "Superman Blue." Now able to become an energy being as Superman, Clark in human form loses his powers and is completely vulnerable. Things get worse however when Superman splits once again, into Superman Red and Superman Blue.
Lois and Clark Part 2
Superman returns to normal, but thanks to Dominus, his perceptions are skewed, causing him to seemingly live through four periods of time. Lois also existed in each of the four. What Dominus didn't know is that once Lois and Superman kiss, it broke the illusion. When Lex Luthor buys the Daily Planet, many employees are fired except Lois, Jimmy, Clark and two others who are to work at his company. The job involved at LexCorp involves searching the internet for stories and posting it the company's site. Lois doesn't like working here, though she can do nothing to get out and do some traditional journalism. Lois also discovers that Lucy is pregnant, though with Ron Troupe and not Jimmy, on the same day when they took down the globe off the Daily Planet building.
Superman starts to have strange dreams and tries to stay ahead of disasters by patrolling Earth all day and night. His family, the Justice League and Lois try talking some sense into him, but are unsuccessful. Superman becomes even more obsessed with keeping the world safe and builds robots to help him patrol. Lois decides to take this into her own hands. She goes to the Fortress of Solitude with the JLA and United Nations forces, who fight Superman and his robots while Lois makes it into the Fortress. Lois is then able to confront Superman, making him realise what he has done and become. After kissing him, he realises his wrong doing and realises that Dominus was manipulating him all along. He defeats him in battle and returns to normal. The consequence for that was people felt they could no longer trust him. Lex lets Lois interview Superman, though he really planned to release Metallo while Superman was doing the interview to make him look even worse than before. The interview is cancelled just in time.
Superman is also called to Hell with other heroes to reignite the fires put out by Asmodel. Superman's body and soul are separated and he is forces to experience visions of harsh realities. However, the love between Lois and Clark is too strong and all is good in the end.
Our Worlds at War!:
Lex Luthor sold the Daily Planet to Bruce Wayne again for only one dollar and everyone was hired back, because Lois made a deal with him: she would delete any one story to his choosing. However when Brainiac 13 upgrades the city during Y2K, Lois saves the life of Lena Luthor. Lex is thankful and offers to drop the deal, but Lois is agitated because she hoped to get on Lex's good side.
After Y2K, Lois starts acting strangely, and Clark doesn't understand why. He shows how much he loves her by taking to her on a holiday, but at a confrontation at home, Lois pushes Clark straight out a window. Clark realises that this isn't Lois. During their fight it is revealed that the Parasite touched Lois and has kept Lois as his disguise. He soon collapses and dies before he can reveal where Lois is hidden, however, Batman is able to locate her in time. However, Superman is also sick from the Parasite, and is taken to the STAR labs where he only gets worse (he literally starts glowing green). Steel, Superboy and Supergirl are shrunk so they can get into Superman's body and destroy a tumor based on Kryptonite. They succeed and Superman pulls through, with support from Lois. Lucy and Ron finally get married during Lucy's ninth month of pregnancy and Lucy gives birth a few weeks later.
Lois is then hired to investigate who hired La Encantadora to poison Clark. She discovers that a man from Pokolistan had hired her, but is attacked by Kancer, (who was actually the krytonite tumor) before she can disclose the information to Clark. He gets the information in the end, however. Superman starts an investigation by himself, but Lois calls up Supergirl, Superboy and Kelex to tail him. Superman confronts Kancer as well as Ignition, when a "general" in armour shows up and breaks Superman's jaw. He is also revealed as the one responsible for poisoning Superman.
Lois has an opportunity to interview Wonder Woman. Lois always had been jealous of Wonder Woman and took the time to explain that being a perfect being, she and Superman would make a better match than with a non-super woman. However, Wonder Woman cleared up that they will always just be close friends.
Earth is under invasion again by Imperiex led by Darkseid. Lois makes her stand in the White House. Hippolyta dies from an explosion, and Superman, thinking it is Wonder Woman, goes over to help. He is only focused on Hippolyta, ignoring Lois' cries for help at the White House. When the aliens attack the White House, Lois watches her father sacrifice himself to save the capital. Even though they never had a great relationship, Lois was devastated at the loss of her father. Lois' father gets a funeral and she and Clark travel to Kansas to try and find Ma and Pa Kent. Fortunately, they find both of them alive and well and rebuild the house. Lois then goes to travel with her mother and takes some time away.
Lois returns to Metropolis and admits to Clark that she feels that perhaps part of her father's death was his fault. Lois is also suspicious of President Luthor, thinking that he knew about the invasion, but never bothered to warn anyone about it. A lady called Hope tells Lois that a man named Frank Rock could've provided all the proof she needed, though he died during the war. She then confirms that Brainiac 13 had warned Lex about the invasion. Lois gets home to find Lex there. He has found out about her snooping around and asks if the deal can be put in motion now, deleting this story about him. Beating him at his own game, Clark writes the story instead, but is fired once he does so. The Martian Manhunter does a scan on Lex's mind and turns up negative. Clark is fired because of the lack of evidence, but in reality, Perry puts him undercover to investigate some more.
Lois is a Mother
Lois is being interviewed by a student who is asking her about Superman and her father's death. When she was asked if she would like to be a goddess, she answered "the goddess of integrity." The "student" transforms her into a goddess, but Lois becomes mad with power and attacks the "gods", which reveal themselves to be demonic deities. She battles them and goes to her father's grave, thinking now that she has all this power, she could resurrect him. Wonder Woman talks some sense into Lois and explains that a lot of power can corrupt, even godly powers. Superman defeats the false gods and Lois rejects her power, turning back to her own self.
Manchester Black uses his power telepathic powers to tell Superman's enemies to attack his close ones. Lois is attacked by Evil Star. Luckily, she is saved by Superman and he explains the situation to her. Lois, forced to improvise explains that she is Superman's Security Coordinator, calling up Superman's friends and families at Steelworks. Lois goes to her apartment, where she is captured by Manchester Black. He tortures her physically and psychologically. Superman comes to save Lois but finds her dead with Manchester. Superman fantasises about killing him, but refuses to do so realising that he would become Manchester Black himself. Manchester is stunned, and reveals that Lois' death is an illusion. All Manchester really wanted to do was make Superman realise the mistake he did if he killed him.
Lois surprises herself when she finds a woman calling herself Supergirl (Cir-El) claiming to be Superman's daughter. The claims are even bigger when she says that she is in fact from the future and Lois is her mother.
