When I think about Lobo or a Lobo movie, I don't think PG-13. To me, Lobo simply screams out for an R rating. Producer Joel Silver is eager to bring the Main Man to the big screen. During a group interview recently for another movie, Silver told Sci Fi Wire the following:
While it's great to think we could actually get a Lobo movie, the idea of a PG-13 version reminds me more of when he was turned into a teenager:Lobo is one I'm very excited about maybe doing one day, hopefully soon," Silver said in a group interview on Saturday at the Los Angeles press day for Orphan. "I think we can do it. We've got a script we like.
I think it's structured now as a PG-13 movie," he said. "I think we've done it that way, but I love it. I've just wanted to make it for a long time, and I think it's a great character, a great guy.
I suppose the reality of it is it would need to be PG-13 in order to have a chance of being 'successful.' Even most horror movies these days shoot for a PG-13 rating in order to allow more 'kids' to buy tickets to see it. I still have to wonder if there's any hope of this being good.
