    First published in Le Journal de Tintin between September 16, 1948 and November 17, 1949, then in album form by Le Lombard in 1956 and finally by Casterman in 1973.

    Alix l'intrépide est construit comme un feuilleton.

    Alix, fils du défunt chef gaulois Astorix, est adopté par le gouverneur romain Honorus Galla, qui meurt dans ses bras. Ainsi, il acquiert un nom et une fortune. Cette aisance matérielle dont il dispose, Alix n'en profitera guère par la suite. Il voyagera presque toujours sans argent et sans autre suite qu'Enak.

    Weak start for a great series 0

    The Alix series is well known for its great art in each panel and on every page. It certainly didn't start out that way, but it started a long, long time ago. After reading Alix L'Intrepide, for a while, there is a real disjointed flavor, indicative of a serial. It's like something random and different happens to Alix on every 4th page. It's clear at this point in the series that Jacques Martin had come to know about the world of Ancient Rome through peplum movies of the day, but this as well a...
