    Evil Adventus, Part 3: Downfall

This is Jim Shooter's thrid issue of LSH in the current run. It is also the best of the three. I hope Shooter continues to improve.

    SPOILERS!

Shooter does a great job of exploring Projectra's trouble with being titleless and penniless. I enjoyed Councilwoman Ardeen playing the part of "mother" to Projectra. Perhaps Sydne will take a "motherly" role to all Legionnaires and not just her own daugther.

I believe its that's kid I think his name was Calcu-Lad from last issue try-outs that is monoriting the duty roster. I sure hope that with the introduction of these new characters like this guy and Spy and Giselle, Shooter doesn't forget about Waid's Theena and Dream Boy. Waid didn't use them often, but they were favorites of mine.

Personally I hope Giselle does NOT join the LSH, she seems very two dimensional to me - I just don't care for the whole angst ridden everyone's against me because I'm different attitude. And Saturn Girl committing a felony by tampering with others thoughts - including Timber Wolf's - seemed very out of character for her.

The scenes with Colossal Boy, Ultra Boy and Element Lad were just fillers to me. They didn't seem to have anything to do with the plot of the story.

Shooter is doing an average job of writing LSH, but what I can not stand is all the 31st century slang terms florg, zork-face, foob, futzwit... now I don't mind a few here and there (I acutally like zork-face and foob) but he's using them constantly, and it gets in the way of good story telling

On to the art - Manapul and Livesay are improving with each issue as well. Personally, I like the way Light Lass and Lightning Lad are drawn, both looked great in their BVD's. I didn't care much for his Element Lad - can't quite put my finger on to why though. Generally speaking the art is solid and clear - you can easily understand whats goin on in the panel if there wer no words.

As for the overall, based on the improvements in both writing and art as compared to the previous two issues. I'll give 3.5 stars.

    Long live the Legion

    Evil Adventus, Part 3: Downfall

I dug this issue, The Princess has an attitude, and she is not in the way of caring who she shows it to. Granted, I thought the bit with Collossal Boy was added just so there could be some action in the book. Without him the most you have is Timber Wolf growling at people. Of course Saturn Girl used her powers to make him calm down, and those he lashed out at forget it happened. I liked that, I wouldn't suspect that the older version of the character would do that, but she had just gone through a war, and those things have a way of changing people. So far Shooter is doing a good job. He can tone down the 30th century slang a couple of levels, but over all he's doing good. Art is crisp and clean. It's a good time to be a Legion fan.
