The Psychotic Perspective: Legends of the Dark Knight #13
Slam!
I’ve greatly enjoyed the last three issues of Legends of the Dark Knight, and I was looking forward to finding out how this arc resolved.
In this issue, Slam Bradley teams up with Batman to clear his name and take down Black Mask.
I Am Disappoint
In short, this issue is a letdown. The last two issues build up to so much putting Slam Bradley in an impossible situation, and I was eager to see how he would get himself out of this tight spot, but at the risk of slightly oversimplifying the story resolution, Batman showed up and fixed everything. I will not go over all the specifics, because they are not worth rehashing, but the ending felt rushed and overly convenient.
Death Trap Nonsense
In addition, the end fight sequence made no sense. Slam realizes Batman is in trouble when steel shudders trap Batman in the room with Black Mask, but there is no reason to think Batman would not easily clean Black Mask’s clock, a feat he has done many times on previous occasions. Furthermore, Slam “saves” Batman by tackling Black Mask through a window. Seriously? Batman is “trapped,” but there is nothing stopping him from breaking through glass and stepping out of the room?
Conclusion
Overall, the story arc is still worth reading because of the first two parts of the arc, but the way it petered out at the end was quite disappointing.
