Last Of Us : Batman Edition.
Plot
Batman tries to figure out what the actual heck is going on with Joker's virus,while Jim has an axe on his chest.Jim lives,but he's in a weird coma/crazy situation.Batman finds out that the virus can,practically make you immortall,and that it's based on Joker's genes, and that he was alive many many years before.Weird sh!te(Irish for crap).
After finding out some stuff from the person who helped Joker develop this hell-water,he understands that there's nowhere to go and nothing to do.......thus,when something bad happens,which involves the history of Gotham City...."Who you gonna call?!!!" ...the Court Of Owls,baby.
Thoughts
Snyder writes this book impeccably,there's no question about it,it's flawless.
The level of professionalism and attention to detail is unbelievable.
Now,You find yourself ,at several points in ONE issue,thinking that "There's no F-ing way outta this" and the next panel,Batman says that there's no way outta this.Unbelievable.
A lot of stuff goes down in this issue,that makes you think like this.
Jim's in the position that he is,and he can't help.The scientist who helped Joker explains in detail and in a very convinsing manner, that the serum is bad news.Joker is all over history,like we saw in the previous issue with Jim,and in this issue with Alfred's kid.Dicky-Dick says that it's literally all over,because on top of ALL this Mistah Jay knows what Bruce does at night,and frankly Dicky- Dick is totally right.
BUT.....if you're a person who thinks like Batman(like me,obviously) you think that "It's all a freaking trick....this can't be true,and this can't be so doomed and complicated....he can't be alive so much time,and he can't be immortal,at this moment." and Batman thinks of it too.Because Batman always puts logic and rational thought before anything,and that's how he always wins.
The serum can basically age backwards,and regenerate damaged cells.Which makes you immortal,and impenetrable to any kind of physical damage.Look at it,as it is,and we're screwed both ways from Sunday.
There's a random page of Joker swimming underwater,without a mask,of course,but it was preety random....so i believe we will get answers about that in some upcoming issues.Because Snyder's a good writer.And he doesn't leave threads hanging....
This issue had the second most epic last page of any Batman issue ,after the first Endgame issue with the Jokerised Superman.
Batman realising that a) this has to be a trick, b) he's got nothing, c) this is a History of the City problem ,contacted the Court Of Owls.The biggest history buffs Gotham has.
I didn't expect that.Like,at all.
Court Of Owls is my favorite Batman story ever,so seeing this last page,i drooled from happyness.It was so awesome,and so great.The premise of a Batman-Court fight Vs the Joker is goddamn phenomenal.
Talons Vs Joker people.Oh my God.
I,now, have to re-read Court of Owls for the 5th time....
