In the distant future, Elijah is a member of the 'Philosophical Police,' who must solve conflicts that arise out of ignorance of the Other. Two species are fighting a war with roots in a crime committed centuries ago, and Elijah must solve the crime and bring peace between their species, while also confronting his own immortality in a world where science provides access to eternal life. In a world where death no longer exists, why do so many want to give up on life? Translated from the award-winning French graphic novel.

Beautiful and odd 0

I loved this series as a whole and found its presentation and production enthralling. A cynical part of me was continually waiting for the veil to be torn away and have this novel turn dystopian but I am glad I was wrong. Even without delving into the innerworkings of the grand society presented the world itself holds a weight that makes it feel very real. While confusing at times the end justifies the means and after a couple of re-reads I have to say this is one of my favorite graphic novels...

Echoes of humanity 0

A good sci-fi novel has to have certain elements in the plot's structure that I consider vital, such as creativity, coherence and diversity in the theme being told. In this enterprise, Fabien Vehlmann succeeded in delivering a fantastic futuristic story about a multi-cultural extraterrestrial society, guided or arranged in it's differences by a Terran Government. It's not only the diversity in the aliens that amused me very much, but the search that the writer set as a goal for the humans to red...
