    Lady Lynette is a character of Arthurian legend, adapted to comic books. She was the sister of Lyonesse, captive of the Red Knight. Lynette comes to Camelot to seek help. Failing to make the importance of her case clear, Lynette ends up with only Gareth volunteering to help. At the time the youth being not a knight but kitchen servant.

    Lynette keeps insulting Gareth through their travel. This does not stop him from defeating the Red Knight, rescuing Lyonesse and earning his knighthood. Gareth proceeds to marry Lyonesse while Lynette marries Gaheris, a brother of Gareth.

    The tale has been adapted to modern literature with some differences. For example the poem "Gareth and Lynette" by Alfred Tennyson makes Gareth indifferent to the charms of Lyonesse. He instead wants to woo and marry Lynette.
