    Origin

Kuja is a creation of the powerful and long lived Garland. Such creations of Garland were a pivotal part of his task in ensuring the return and existence of the Terrans, the species that in turn created him and tasked him with ensuring their survival. After a cataclysmic event and a series of unfortunate events, the Terrans were left in a soul form of sorts, and a hibernation, Garland tasked with creating them a new planet and new bodies. The Genome were Garland's idea, seemingly soulless automaton's that could be infused with Terran souls. Kuja however was given his own mind and agency and a special purpose, to go to the planet Gaia and incite and unleash conflict, destruction and war, so that more inhabitants of Gaia would die, speeding up the plans of Garland.

Kuja would have that fascination with war and death, and also suffer from various psychological and philosophical issues as the result of being constructed. This would exacerbate when Kuja would realize that another Genome was created to be his replacement and superior. Kuja would take this other Genome, and abandon it on Gaia, but in doing so anger Garland who would also banish Kuja to Gaia.
