I personally really enjoyed Joss Whedon's version of Kitty Pryde, since she was written as being very brave and spunky.  Chris Claremont's version of Kitty Pryde comes in a close second.

Claremont - The definitive writer of Kitty in her teen years

Whedon - The title so far for portraying her as an adult

    Aaron - Very unimpressed

Ultimate - I do not read them so I have no opinion

Whedon's is great, but Bryan Wood's version is giving that one the run.

Oh man Jason Aaron's IS THE BEST!!!!

LOL ok now that i've stopped laughing, i can be serious for a moment. Comparing Claremont and Whedon isn't exactly fair. As Claremont she was a child, and teenager. Wheldon's take on her really felt like THAT same Character only grown up, he made it believable that he wrote the same one Claremont did only aged. With that being said if i have to pick between the two it goes to Claremont for the pure amount of time he wrote her and all the great stories, without it i don't think Whedon's would of been near as good. The ultimate one is great too, i read that title for a while (got short on money had to make cuts lol) but i still prefer 616 stuff so Claremont > Whedon > Wood > Any Fan fiction that might be lying around > Aaron ;D

I like them all (why so much Aaron hate? I think Wolverine and the X-Men is tons of fun) but Chris Claremont made the character who she is. I particularly took a shine to the version of Kitty in X-Men Forever. I will have to go back and finish that series one day....

I definitely agree with this! Chris Claremont really created the character we all know today and Joss Whedon only made her better in his run.  I agree that it did feel like the same Kitty Pryde I was reading during Claremont's run when I read Joss Whedon's run, only that Kitty is now an adult in his run.

Claremont, then Whedon, then Aaron (don't get all the hate) and Ultimates last only because it's too far out for me - I like 616 Kitty much, much more.

My thoughts exactly. Although they need to get past the sentinel storyline. I'm tired of that.

The sentinel storyline in Ultimate X-Men?  I will admit that it's been going on for too long at this moment.

    1. Joss Whedon- Whedon's interpretation of Kitty is incredible. Hands down my favorite version of Kitty.

    2. Ultimate- This is a close second though. I haven't read a whole lot of stories from the Ultimate unviverse that feature her yet, but I like the way they've built her up as a leader among mutants. The deaths of past mutant leaders such as Magneto, Prof. X, Cyclops, and (to a lesser extent) Wolverine has allowed her to step up into a leadership position among mutants. I look forward to seeing how her character continues to evolve in that universe. Now if only they'd release that third volume of Ultimate Comics X-Men...

    3. Claremont- Claremont developed this character into who she is today. He introduced her as a kid in Uncanny X-Men and allowed her to grow into a young woman, which resulted in some fantastic stories.

    4. Aaron- I don't much care for Aaron's interpretation of the X-characters.

And I just want to mention, I thought Peter David's portrayal of her in the recent A+X comic was great. Makes me wish either Peter David would take over writing duties of Wolverine and the X-Men or that Kitty would join X-Factor...

I haven't read A+X yet, but I've heard some good things about how Kitty was portrayed in that comic.  I like to see what Peter David does with her.
