It'll be in the (often delayed) Astonishing X-Men. They're doing a Giant Sized one to finish the Breakworld story. I say she just stayed behind with SWORD (and Lockheed).

Okay I don't know how I could've missed it but in Uncanny 496, they say Peter lost the woman he loved... I haven't seen Kitty in a long time so when did this happen?

Also the fact that she wasn't in Messiah Complex and now Colossus is going to be in Last Defenders.

omfg that's so lame lol, yes a great climax spoiled because it was delayed.

Yeah it's just confusing... like Peter should've been mourning for her during Messiah Complex instead of now... I know there were bigger things to do in MC but still.. and that she was just in Endagered Species and well it's unsure when Breakworld really happened.

That's why I don't think she's dead. I don't care if a bunch of crap was going down in Messiah, there would've been some mention of her death. Especially by Pete, Wolverine or Storm. Although, what exactly did Storm do besides fly around he back of certain panels?

This is the problem with a gazillion different titles. At least with Spider-Man, they have the writers working together (the braintrust) and only have one title coming out three times a month.

Maybe the blame falls on the editors?

A pity that Kitty's dead/indisposed/whatever. I quite liked her.

I must admit I still don't understand whether she's dead,or she is just stuck with that thing.  I mean, are they going to somehow save her?

She's flying through space in a magic bullet. She'll be back when another writer really wants her, they'll just have to think of a bigger plot device than a magic space bullet.

I hope she brought some food with her.

Is she stuck or why dosen't she phase out? Plus is she dead. oh the suspence. She's going to travell the cosmos and then bump into the Watcher and then he's going to send her back because she belongs to earth and during Secret Invasion Kitty will come back and be a skrull. When Phoenix comes back she'll bring her back or maybe Kitty will be able to drive the bullet back and then destroy earth or she will travel so far she will go into another universe like ultimate u.... keeps rambleing

Just seems as if it was done as a stunt.  It pissed a lot of people off.  People loved the Whedon/Cassaday run.  By doing this to Kitty, more poeple (like us) will continue to talk about it.  Sure it may be negative talk but the fact is we're still talking about it.  Plus the fact that she's on some crazy magic bullet, that's gotta get the attention of those that haven't read the issue.  It could be enough to make a non-reader want to track down the issue (or trade) to figure out what the heck we're talking about.

That really was one of the most annoyingly idiotic and pathetic deaths for such an awesome character.  The funniest thing to me is that  Joss Whedon continually cites Kitty  as being the inspiration for the character of Buffy Summers.  I love him, I love Buffy but honestly I wish he hadn't "removed" Kitty like that, it happened just as I fell in love with her. =(

That's one of the problems with having so many different X-characters.  They can't all be around all the time.  It's just really really lame that they just left it at that.  No one thought to try to come up with a way to save her.  And for Marvel to allow this to happen doesn't make a lot of sense either.  "Let's get rid of a popular character."  "Whedon is about to end his run on Astonishing X-Men, let's let him get rid of whoever he wants."  And he goes to all the trouble of resurrecting Colossus, building up their relationship and then ends it.  How does Petey feel about all this?  He just gives a little sniffle while having a beer with Wolverine and Nightcrawler.  What a classy guy.

Yeah the way Kitty was taken out was a little weird but I gotta say, Astonishing X-Men's take on Cyclops was wicked bad. I loved how they made him truly an awesome guy. Even a little unstable. I loved it.

   Joss seems to have an obsession with killing the "Nice Girl" ("Doctor Evil Singing Blog", and several characters in Buffy) as an example to other characters. Perhaps he's more comfortable seeing them as Christ Figures? Who can say?

   My current theory is that Lockheed and his people will rescue her...but who's to know. It depends on what writer next wants to use her.

Even if she is dead, just how long can they keep her dead? Give it a year or two, dead or not, she'll be back.

   I'm reasonably certain she isn't dead. The bullet seemed to be keeping her alive in some way, and she thought it "Wanted her" to be there (if I remember correctly), but...

   I do fear...for her sanity. What would she be like...after more than a year in solitude. After a year of first hoping for rescue, then...as the long weeks and months start passing...hoping for death.

   I have a terrible image of Kitty in my mind. Of this happy, intelligent girl sealed away and cast into space. I wonder...if they manage to rescue her...what will they get back? A shaken but still solid friend...or a shreking and fear-haunted mad woman who believes she died ages ago, and that the bullet is her coffin...and her hell.

   Man, I hope not. I suggest in another thread that Lockheed can rescue her in Pet Avengers (he's just found the Time Gem from the Infinity Gauntlet), but I can't believe they'd do it...without some pre-issue hype.

   Still...what would a person be like after a year alone in what must amount to a ten-mile long combination coffin and sensory depravation tank? The very idea chills...
