You know, it’s a while since BLADE and a bit too long since we’ve seen a superhero just wrecking a warehouse full of goons. As the hour draws nearer and nearer to KICK-ASS's release in a couple weeks, so too do the number of promo clips increase. Here we’ve got one of Nicholas “ Big Daddy” Cage giving a whole bunch of mafia thugs the hard goodbye and I have to say it looks very… BAD-ASS.
I find it kind of puzzling that Lionsgate has played down Cage’s involvement in this movie so much. He’s one of the biggest stars and box office draws, right now. You’d think they'd have plastered his name and face all over the posters and billboards for this thing, but no. The promos that DO have Big Daddy on them keep the mask on, so you really don’t know him from Adam. I wonder if this might have been a personal choice of Cage’s not to upstage the story or his co-stars. Or perhaps it’s another example of Millar and Vaughn doing the movie in the way they think is right, rather than kowtowing to market pressures? Search me.
Anyway, forget about all those business ruminations. Enjoy the clip. But do me a favor, Comic Vine community. I know we’ve got a throng of resourceful minds, here… so, can somebody tell me what the song in this clip is? I KNOW I’ve heard it before, but I can’t put my finger on it. I want to say it was used at the end of SMOKIN’ ACES or perhaps somewhere in MAN ON FIRE. I demand the name of the band, the name of the track and all instances it’s been used before, and I DEMAND IT NOW!
