Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl are back, and then some?
Story: The long awaited sequel is here and it starts off with Mindy training Dave in a gym. Dave is still way below mediocre on his fighting skills. He's been training with Mindy for a while now and is getting more serious about it. They want to start a team of heroes in New York so they have a plan to recruit new people. Mindy now lives with her dad's partner in the force Marcus. Marcus knows everything they've been doing and planning and he wants her to stop because he doesn't want her or her mom to lose her. Dave's regular life is back to normal as in school and friends. Dave goes out as Kick-Ass and meets a new recruit called Dr. Gravity. Dr. Gravity is an ordinary teacher at a college and wants to pursue his dream of being a super hero. They both fight some thugs together and run away. Dave texts Mindy about the whole team thing and she says they can't because Marcus won't let her. At the end, Dave meets Dr. Gravity and a secret hideout for a whole team of super heroes called Justice Forever.
Writing: The issue's over all story was good but I had a few issues with it. This whole idea of Kick-Ass and Hit-Girl starting a team feels forced, pushed, rushed, and even random. I feel that it's just a way for Mark Millar to whip up a quick story for Kick-Ass. I also feel that being there is no major villain or crime family shown in this issue, it made it seem rushed and without a purpose. I was hoping to see a little of Red Mist in the present instead of what he's going to do in the future.
Characters: We have our classic characters consisting of Dave, Mindy, and Marcus. But now we are thrown more new people like Dr. Gravity. I feel now with this idea of a team that Kick-Ass is no longer the main focus. This team of Justice Forever has too many people in it and it's taking away the unique feeling we had once we first read Kick-Ass.
Dialogue: The dialogue was definitely Kick-Ass. I love the references to comic books and I love the teen age cursing.
Art: Shockingly, I liked John Romita Jr's work.
Cover: The cover was okay.
Penciling: Usually I don't like John Romita Jr.'s work but I thought it was great in this issue. I loved his work in the original Kick-Ass and I loved his work in this issue.
Coloring: I enjoyed the colors in this issue.

My favorite scene was when Mindy was training Dave at the gym. I couldn't help but get the feeling of classic Kick-Ass there.
Reasons to and not to pick up.
Reasons to pick up: It's great to know that we can see where our characters from the last series are and where they are going. I thought the story was good and the art was great.
Reasons not to pick up: The story had some flaws that I could not ignore. This issue did not make an impact on me and I really thought it would. I want to see more plot development and keep the classic feel of Kick-Ass.
Verdict: Pick it up. 4 out of 5.
