One of the defining characteristics of neo-noir movies is that they are often told nonlinearly. From Momento to Batman Begins, most neo-noir stories use flashbacks to tell the story, and I have to believe that this issue of Kato Origin tried to do this. It is the only explanation of why this issue seems to take place immediately before last months issue. If anyone else has a better explanation for why this came out second than please fill me in because I didn't really understand it. Anyways on to the actual issue.
The Good:
The artwork in this issue is pretty good, not great but good, it works for the issue. The story was interesting this time around. It makes sense why Kato would be so intent on taking down the members of the Hellfire Club. This issue also really showcases the reasons for the Hellfire Club, rich men with sexual perversions definitely need a lot of secrecy. The story really could have gone a lot dirtier with this and I'm glad it stayed relatively clean in a comical way, not that I don't like dirty I read The Boys after all, but it wouldn't really have fit well in this book. The characters reactions to the things they stumble upon is priceless.
The Bad:
Other than the issue appearing to be out of order I really have no complaints about this issue. The story is everything I have come to expect from Kato Origins. It isn't groundbreaking, it isn't the first book I read every week, in fact I actually didn't read it until this week, but it is something that I enjoy reading. A couple of months ago I thought about giving up on this book but issues like this remind me why I keep going, sometimes its good to sitback and read a fun issue.
Anyways post what you thought of the issue.
