So...the Shadow King was the one who made her a Lesbian?

#4 Posted by pixelized (62882 posts) - - Show Bio

Nope, she may have always been but never acted upon it until after that time.

Oh so he gave her the courage to come out after the confrontation with him then...right?

#6 Posted by pixelized (62882 posts) - - Show Bio

lol no i just don't think there was ever anyone she was attracted to. She was with the new mutants for like 4 days before she went missing.

Can be, under certain circumstances.

Heh, weird.  I've been re-reading old X-Force issues and I was wondering the same thing when I re-read issue 75.  Shan turns up and has a conversation with Dani about relationships...

Shan: Tell me, Dani.  You ever have a thing for Sam?  You two were constantly competing -- Always trying to one-up the other.  That kind of tension can lead to things.

Dani:  On television, yes.  In my life, no.  Sam's cute, but not my type.  What about you?

Shan: Oh. Definitely not my type.

They had the definitely in bold.  I think that was the first time they insinuated that she's gay, but I don't know when it was officially announce.  Didn't she used to have a crush on Kitty??

MHmmmm... In New X-men or New Mutants Volume 2, she started dating a waitress in the place the baby x-men were hanging out in.

that shows how much I've read of her....

#17 Posted by pixelized (62882 posts) - - Show Bio

I hate that she's always been so background. Even in New Mutants, she was there for like 4 issues and then disappeared for like 40.  I like Karma, she needs more Spotlight.

First time I actually read she was a Lesbian was when she told someone in X-Force(I think it was Meltdown or Moonstar) in X-Force # 76 or 77.

Wassup with some of the X-Men being gay/bi? Mystique, Ultimate Colossus, and  now Karma?

#22 Posted by pixelized (62882 posts) - - Show Bio

Because they're supposed to reflect everyday people. Which is also why they have money issues, and family members die.

Well, if that isn't a racist statement.  :o

They have a cultural background.

Homosexuals don't.
#28 Posted by pixelized (62882 posts) - - Show Bio

but they're obviously just an "unneeded ploy" to appeal to a wider demographic and boost sales, so they can be taken out .

So... What you're saying is that black people exist, but gay people don't.
Seriously, there is no-one that would start to buy a comic because they'd found out that Karma is gay.  She's been side-lined ever since the start of the New Mutants.  Having minor characters come out of the closet doesn't boost sales.  It's just an attempt to reflect society, but without daring to do it with the mainstream or popular heroes.

They are?  I'm not sure being racist is going to help you. :p

Black people cannot choose their parents or skin color.

But, many people have flip-flopped on their sexual orientation.

And being homophobic is clearly winning you a popularity contest.

You said that having homosexuals in comics is just an "unneeded sales ploy."  If we're getting rid of all sales ploys then we should take out all ethnicities, because they were obviously only put in there so that they could appeal to a broader audience.

Because they're born hetero sexual. Pretty obvious no? Some people are born homo sexual, some hetero sexual. Nothing you can change about it.

You said having homosexuals characters is a sales ploy. Having black characters is the same thing. It's to appeal to a wider audience to boost their sales.

That's not what I meant. People flip-flop. They say they are homosexuals then they say they aren't.

Sure they do, it might mean they're confused about their sexuality and try things out. Or maybe they're Bi-Sexual.

Or...maybe they are lying because being a homosexual is "in", in Hollywood.  :p
