Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth (1971-1978) #22

Ben Boxer and his companions finally find Kamandi! But the reunion is cut short when the Red Baron attacks a fantastic society of dolphins. This came out after allot of silly junk.Day of the Dalphin was a book and a movie.Scientist were claimming dolphins were as smart as people, only that they did not have hands to build a civilization like us humans. And their is a mix of the Red Baron-half Captain Ahab and the World War One flying ace.An intelligent Killer Whale against nice dolphins.

The problem is now we know and maybe some suspected then, that dolphin were smart-as dogs.Killer Whales, like all predator in the animal kingdom are not villians, but just are doing what comes natural. And Ahab the Red Baron smart enough to pilot an undersea vehicle, but stupid enough to lead about by a stupid, talking dolphin. All this with Kamandi,Ben Boxer ,Steve and Renzi kicking butt here and there, but doing little else to evolve the world around them on a larger scale. In the end,Kamandi and Kirby keep the basic premise of the Planet of the Ape movies, without going beyond the intial first premise.Monkey ape humans, while hating them and humans are hopeless, dum idiots.Once again Jack Kirby pulls allot of ideas and does little with them. Here was an attempt to build on whats gone before, while using characters and situations in this story to build a bigger storyline. The Dolphins have small habitates, but never we see anything more or larger. No whole colonies of Dolphin cities.
