Kaine recently died in The Amazing Spider-Man #13 in the Spider-Verse event IIRC. Morlun killed him in a rage after Kaine killed Solus. Morlun ripped off one of Kaine's legs and stabbed him in the neck with it. R.I.P Kaine
Kaine
Character » Kaine appears in 430 issues.
Kaine was the first clone of Spider-Man created by the Jackal. He was suffering from clone degeneration and became an assassin and spent years tormenting his clone brother, Ben Reilly. He has since taken up the mantle his now dead brother as the new Scarlet Spider.
R.I.P Kaine
He's not gone. The Other has brought people back from death on no less than 3 occasions. I see no reason he shouldn't be back in the next issue to be honest. I'm guessing he still has a part to play.
Place your bets, people! Place your bets whether Kaine lives or dies!
But IMO he lives, cause they need him alive.
@strider92: True, but then again, he might only of appeared dead, but then again...
This is a huge spoiler dude.
Kinda is.

Dying isn't really a problem in comics and its even less so for Kaine (who is now on death number 4 lol Jean Grey has some competition it seems) especially now he has the "Other". Even if for some stupid reason he doesn't come back before the end of Spider-verse. He can still be resurrected by the "Other" later on. When Pete died it took almost a week for the "Other" to bring him back IIRC. We haven't seen the last of Kaine thats for sure.

If that's the case, that just cheapens Kaine's death all the more. Then again, keeping him dead would have been a pointless casualty and a poor end to all of Yost's development on Kaine so it's seemingly a no win situation.
@lvenger: In all honesty Slott played this card FAR to early. Reilly should have died during the major battle of the Inheritors Vs Spiders (next issue I believe). The Inheritors could have started to win kill Reilly and cause Kaine go shift with the "Other" out of rage and go on a rampage. Would have made an awesome crescendo to end the battle. Kaine would have made an awesome distraction to allow Pete to do whatever he needed to do.
Kaine's death would have meant something (Ie: taking on the Inheritors so the other spiders could escape or execute a plan) Solus wouldn't have died in such an Anti-climatic way and we would have got a far more kickass fight out of it.
@strider92: I honestly agree. Slott should of had Kaine killed Solus later on, Slott used bad timing.
@strider92: You make perfect sense as per usual of your posts Strider, that sounds like a much better way of telling the Spider-Verse story than what we ended up with. Of course, this is Slott we're dealing with, he lives off shock value and anti climatic twists in his writing nowadays.
@lvenger: Sure seems that way. Slott seems to be writing other Marvel titles now as well. Here's hoping that he'll share the reigns with someone else. In all honesty it doesn't matter how good you are every writer needs a change of pace. Staying stuck with the same character allows stagnancy and repetitive points. Slott needs to share the reigns with someone else. Alternate arcs or something.
I'm slightly biased because I REALLY want to see what Christos Gage could do with Spider-man if he had more creative control.
Remember when Peter was the other and we all thought he died but the Other brought him back? Yah I don't think he's dead.
@jaken7: Why did you call me a douche? If you saw R.I.P in the title you should probably know it's a spoiler.

...yeah, the R.I.P part is the spoiler.
@jaken7: Why couldn't you just think it's some sort of Hoax like "R.I.P Justin Bieber" or something like that and put in fake information?

Is that a legitimate question you're really trying to put forward?
Post spoilers like that and no one will like you. Welcome to Comicvine. :|
Is this an acceptable post, @jaken7?
@strider92: I wouldn't mind Fialkov or Greg Rucka taking the reins at some point.
I hope Kaine comes back but it wouldn't surprise me if Slott said no to bringing Kaine back so he could push one of his Mary Sues.
LISTEN UP PEOPLE. Kaine is not dead I can absolutely guarantee this. Without Captain Universe Pete the Spiders will have absolutely no chance against the Inheritors. He is dead so they need somebody else. Kaine is the Other, this has already been established and is the only other spider who can harm them, and is legit the last hope if the Spiders want to win and live. Unless the idea of this arc is to kill off every Spider related character then Kaine is gonna live. I have no doubt he's fine. The Other has brought people back from worse than this.
The point is this never should have happened. Peter killed Morlun in JMS's run with the base level other powers. Kaine has by now moved far beyond that. The writing is inconsistent and i will hold out hope that the other can manage another return for Kaine.
I'm hoping we see both Kaine and ben reilly both make a come back. the last issue of Amazing #14 just abruptly ended. i felt it could have been better. even when reading the other portion of the tie in from spider-woman it still wasn't too informative.
@jonny_anonymous: We don't even know that. Shit writers are being vague.
