The Fourth Wall Just Keeps Getting Lower
The woman formerly known as Kabuki boards a plane to take her away from her old life. On the plane she reads one of the childrens books she was given by the veterinarian that helped her escape. The majority of the issue is taken up by this kids book - an extended homage to Dr. Seuss (by 'Dr. David and Mr. Mack').
In case you don't know by now, this is creator's therapy. A comic book writer and artist dealing with the growing pains of both genre and industry and putting it all on the page to see.
And if you didn't know this was metafiction, a guy who looks a heck of a lot like David Mack shows up at the end - presumably to help guide Kabuki on the next stage of her journey.
In a way, this whole series reminds me a little of a book I once read called The Tattooed Map, which was another story of a woman on a journey of self discover - told as much through scanned mixed media as through the text. If this is the kind of artistic statement you can get lost in - you'll probably love this book. If not, you'll probably hate it.
