Rise and Fall of the Shi'ar Empire
Ka'ardum was the uncle of D'Ken, Cal'syee, and Lilandra Neramani who once commanded the entire Shi'ar Armada. During Lilandra's reign as Majestrix of the Shi'ar Empire, he tried to lead a coup against her and usurp the throne. As punishment, Lilandra banished and locked him away on the Asteroid Archipelago. Lilandra was later deposed of by the Secret Order. Ironically, Lilandra herself would be the one to break Ka'ardum out and ask for his help against the recently coma recovered, D'Ken. Ka'ardum accepted her offer and stayed by her side even after the former X-Man, Vulcan overthrew D'Ken.
During the Shi'ar's battles against the Scy'ar Tal, Ka'ardum noticed Vulcan's ruthlessness and devotion to expand the Shi'ar Empire. He betrayed Lilandra and the Starjammers and defected back to the Shi'ar's side.
