Daidarabotchi, the Ten-Tailed beast, is basically a god. It is the source of chakra, created the lands, and is the progenitor of life in the Narutoverse. It however was a foul and evil creature and Rikudou managed to seal it within his own body, subduing it and becoming the first Jinchuuriki and gained it's power. Knowing that Daidarabotchi would be released upon his death, Rikudou created the moon to trap it's body and divided it's chakra into nine pieces which would become the Bijuus.
