Justice Society Of America
Justice Society Of America is a comic book team that first appeared in All-Star Comics #3The Justice Society of America is a group set in the DC Universe and is considered the first ever super-group in comics, being introduced in 1940.

Origin and History

They've been opening cans of intergalactic villain stew since before the Justice League was born. The Justice Society started in 1940, just ten years after costumed heroes started appearing. Eight of the world's greatest heroes all banded together to stop Hitler's invasion of Britain and protect President Roosevelt from Nazi assassins. They were Green Lantern (the first, Alan Scott), Flash (Jay Garrick), Spectre, Doctor Fate, Hourman (the first), Sandman (the first), Atom, and Hawkman. Once they realised they worked well together, those eight banded together, becoming the Justice Society of America. After Pearl Harbor, the U.S government created the All-Star Squadron, which banded together every costumed hero. The JSA became one of the most active parts of the All-Star Squadron. Their roster constantly changed, and other prominent members were Johnny Thunder, Doctor Mid-Nite (the first one), Mr. Terrific (the first one), Hawkgirl, Starman, Miss America, and Hippolyta (The mother of Diana, the original Wonder Woman.).
But then Green Lantern, Flash, Hawkman, Hourman, Atom, Doctor Mid-Nite, Johnny Thunder, Starman, Sandman, Wildcat, and Sand agreed to battle gods for eternity in limbo to prevent the end of the world. They escaped, but in Zero Hour, the villian Extant killed Atom, Hourman, and Dr. Mid-Nite. Flash and Green Lantern disbanded the JSA.
In the modern, Silver Age, the Dark Lord Mordru murdered the Wesley Dodds/Sandman. This caused many retired members of the JSA to come back and reform a new, modern JSA, consisting of Flash, Green Lantern, Wildcat, Hawkman, Sand, Atom-Smasher, the new Mr. Terrific, Star-Spangled Kid, new Dr. Fate, new Hawkgirl, and more. They fought crime for a long time, with miscellaneous enemies. The greatest event and challenge was the event Darkness, where Mordru, Obsidian, and Eclipso tried to plunge the world into eternal night. Recently, a vigilante group consisting of Black Adam, Eclipso, Northwind, Brainwave, and Atom-Smasher took the law into their own hands. They started a violent coup in the terrorist nation of Kandaq to end the JSA. This also exposed that Mister Mind was manipulating the JSA. This was called Black Reign, and it greatly affected the JSA. It caused Captain Marvel to quit. But the Justice Society of America fights crime still as the the Best of the Best.
Although most of the members of the Justice Society were old-timers when space travel was still merely the stuff of science fiction, the veteran heroes now escape Earth's gravity aboard the stylish Star Rocket Racer, built and maintained by Pat Dugan, once the costumed adult sidekick Stripesy to the first Star-Spangled Kid.
Powers and Members Currently
Green Lantern ( Alan Scott) - The original Golden Age Green Lantern is not related to the others in that his power ring does not draw from the Central Power Battery and was not given to him by the Guardians of the Universe. He is not part of the Green Lantern Corps. There is an orb called the Starheart that holds lots of energy. A fragment of it became GL's ring and power battery. He now is infused with the Starheart's energies and does not need a ring. He can create hard-light projections, anything out of pure energy. It's only limited by his will and imagination. He also can translate languages, fly, and travel through space.
Flash ( Jay Garrick) - The original Golden Age Flash is the slowest Flash. That's still pretty dang fast. He can run at near lightspeed, can vibrate his molecules so fast that he can pass through objects and ages far slower than a normal human. He may be old, but don't underestimate geezers.
Wildcat (Ted Grant) - Ex-heavyweight champ Ted Grant knuckle-dusted supervillains as Wildcat after being forced out of the boxing ring in the 1940s. One of the JSA's oldes members, Wildcat has trained sever latter-day vigilantes, including Batman and Black Canary, and Catwoman, in the sweet science of fisticuffs. Wildcat's continued vitality is a result of age-retarding temporal magicks sorcerer Ian Karkull once unleashed upon the Justice Society during an early adventure. However, the death-defying nine lives has yet to be explained.
Wildcat 3 (Tom Bronson) - Tom Bronson is the illegitimate son of Ted Grant. He is a metahuman with the ability to transform into a were-cat form. After some reluctance, he decides to share the Wildcat mantle with his father. In werecat form, he posseses enhanced strength, agility, physical resistance, speed, and razor sharp claws and teeth.
Hawkman (Carter Hall) - Hawkman is an ancient Egyptian prince reincarnated. He is one of the strongest members of the JSA. Hawkman has Thanagarian Nth metal on him. This allows him to fly. He has wings and he can go very fast. He can also lift great weight and withstand extreme temperatures. Power Girl (Kara Zor-L) - Power Girl is the Earth-Two version of Supergirl. She is also the chairwoman of the JSA. She possesses many of the same powers, so she can lift 90 tons, go past the speed of sound, fly, and is nearly invulnerable. Kryptonite hurts her.

Hourman has superstrength, agility, durability, and speed, making him formidable in combat, but it only lasts for hour spurts at a time. He can see exactly one hour into the future, and can visit his retired father(the first Hourman) for exactly one hour in a pocket dimension.
Stargirl (Courtney Whitmore) - Stargirl, like the deceased Starman, has a cosmic converter belt(although he had a rod) that gives her the power to harness the stars' energy. This means she has superstrength, speed, and agility, and she can fire energy blasts and electric stars.
