    Do You Believe In Gog?

    The Story:

The JSA faces off against Magog.

    My Thoughts:

Geoff Johns continues his run on the JSA series once again accompanied by Alex Ross for this three part story arc. It basically serves as a sequel to Kingdom Come, a classic DC story.

Once again I have to say I love how Johns puts special focus on all characters involved in the story. It never feels as if someone is left out. In the beginning we see Sandy Hawkins is having problems sleeping. He wishes he could just dream. I thought that was pretty interesting. What I found more interesting was the way they made use of his abilities. That splash page where he got stabbed by a certain someone was awesome. His character definitely seemed to shine within these pages.

The part about Damage was also pretty interesting. I love how Johns has been delivering some backstory on characters in the midst of the on-going crisis. We learn about what happened to Damage's face which he ends up getting healed by Gog. It was interesting to see how some members of the team viewed Gog as a God while others weren't quite fond of him and what he was doing. Religion definitely came into play and sort of caused a rift between JSA members.

Without a doubt my favorite part of this story was the fight between the JSA and Magog. It felt so epic. It wasn't something that only lasted for a couple of pages, this fight went on for a while as everyone kept going after Magog who was holding his own against almost the entire JSA. It had to be one of the best comic book fights I've ever seen. It really was that good.

The art is by Dale Eaglesham, Fernando Pasarin, Jerry Ordway and the painted sequences by Alex Ross. The art has been amazing so far in this series. I really enjoyed it within these issues especially since the huge battle took place. I felt the artists did an outstanding job drawing all that mayhem and capturing the heroes powers beautifully especially Jay Garrick, Alan Scott and Magog's. The covers were so unique and beautiful. Each issue has a cover by Alex Ross and one by Dale Eaglesham. It's so hard to pick which one is better. They are truly stand out covers.

The second part of this thrilling story arc excels on all levels. This is must a read story. If you haven't read part one then go back and read that and then this. This is such a well put together story full of characters rich of depth, personality and legacy.

    Rating: 5/5
