The World Needs Better Good Guys
Starman opens up a black hole and Kiingdom Come Superman comes out of it. The JSA recruit more team members. Mr. America finds out about a new threat and warns the JSA.
My Thoughts:This is the first of three parts to the Thy Kingdom Come story arc. Geoff Johns and Alex Ross are behind this epic story. So far I've really enjoyed what Geoff Johns has done on this series. From the very first issue I've fallen in love with all these characters and have enjoyed reading them since.
I like how each issue has a primary focus on a specific character while at the same time still involves the rest of the cast. I loved finding out more about Citizen Steel and Liberty Belle's backgrounds. This is Geoff Johns at his finest in terms of storytelling. With such a large cast of characters, it would be so easy to become overwhelmed and find it difficult to incorporate them all in a story. Johns rises to the challenge and manages to exploit all these characters hidden potential. What I love about the JSA so much is that these characters have so much depth and background to them. They truly are awesome characters all worthy of their own solo series. Together they make one of my favorite superhero teams and never fail to entertain me. The large cast of characters have so much to offer with all their unique personalities.
The art is by Dale Eaglesham and Fernando Pasarin with the painted sequences and covers by Alex Ross. The quality of artwork is superb. All three artists bring their A-game to the story. The painted sequences are so beautiful they sort of make you wish the entire story was designed that way.
This is a must read story. It's only the beginning of what is shaping up to be an epic story arc. Great storytelling, artwork and a large cast of extraordinary characters make this such an entertaining and thrilling read.
