Hi, my name's Dave and I've been away from Justice Society of America. The introduction of Kingdom Come concepts and characters really didn't do anything for me. So, I bailed. Sorry. God bless you - a blessing on you and yer whole house if you enjoyed it. Yer a better person than me.
I have to admit that the Alex Ross cover look really cool. It just seems to be more than just the icing on the cake, almost like it lends a little bit more of credibility to what's going on inside if there's an Alex Ross cover. It could be George Perez, or Phil Jimenez, or Jim Lee. There's a long list of really cool artists. I grabbed the Stargirl cover with Alan, Jay, Carter and Ted in the background. I wasn't sure if it was just for the cover or if I'd have to go back and start filling in blank issues from #3 or #4 on to be able to read this one.
What's nice is I didn't have to. Geoff Johns says "abyssina" with Courtney's birthday party - apparently ruined by Black Adam in a previous issue. (I may have to look for that one or the trade) Anyway, everybody is there - except Carter - and everybody has a fairly decent moment in the spotlight. There's a pretty cool moment from Ted reflecting on Sylvester Pemberton and Pat Dugan. In case you didn't know it - the universe revolves around one Star or another. Whether it was Ted, Mikaal, Gavin, Sylvester, David, Jack or Courtney and Thom (?) now, it's all about the Stars. Forget your Flash dynasties or Hawk lineages, or infinite Green Lanterns - the Stars are where it's at. At least for me in this issue.
Not really sure what's been going on with Albert and Damage. I guess that's another thing to add to my Bucket List - find out why Damage is wearing a full mask and why he doesn't like ice cream - every body loves ice cream!
This new Starman grates on me. I'm not a big fan of characters portrayed as mentally unbalanced. My brother was sick a little in that way, and it has never been funny to me. It's more sad and tragic and grating. I know it's supposed to be lighthearted and sweet, which it is, but I can't wait for his mind to clear. I had the hardest time with Ted the same way elsewhere. But when he looked at me at the end and said thanks, I nearly lost it. I'm sentimental that way.
I just hope Courtney likes the Star badge left her. I picked it up at a convention.

It's so sad that he left this book because his whole run was fantastic. HIs farewell issue however, was the best. Definetley one of the funniest comics that I've ever read. And the art,,,,took my breath away. Cyclone's pose on the title page was soooooooooo cute!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Starman was hilarous!!!!. You can even see Frankie!!!!!!!!!
