I'm pretty excited about James Robinson's Justice League: Cry For Justice.
I'm pretty sure by now you've read what it's about. You've probably seen the preview that G-Man posted, with Hal delivering what I believe could be the very same declaration that Batman delivered in Batman and the Outsiders #1! In fact, Hal's Justice League is reminiscent of a bunch of other versions of the Justice League over the years. J'onn J'onzz formed a Justice League: Task Force. I never read it, but this could be like Extreme Justice, what looks like an armored version of Captain Atom, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle. there was the recent Justice League Elite. I'm stills cratching my head over that one. Of course there was the Justice League Detroit, that Aquaman led following the Martian Invasion and destruction of the satellite. The Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha Justice League that sprung out of Legends, following COIE. Batman abandoned his Outsiders for that one...I feel like I'm missing a League somewhere...
Before all these weekly series and events with a capital Eve, remember when there was something called a fifth-week event? Instead of kicking back and resting on laurels, DC would put together a series that stretched over the course of a five-week month.
That's the only way I could tell that a month had an extra week.
The Justice Society Returns! was one of these fifth-week events. Classic team-ups in new first issues of All-American, Adventure, Hit and other Golden Age style books. Ironically, the book ends were written by James Robinson and David S. Goyer.
Another one of these fifth-week events, maybe one of the last ones - if not the last one - before all the madness of weekly comics and unending event mini-series was Justice Leagues. I don't think this has ever been collected, if it has it may be out of print. It had the typical bookends, and the three issues in between. Maybe you remember it. The gist of the story is that this alien insect queen wants to repopulate Earth, and hires the Advance Man to do some legwork to make Earth ready for her and her seed. the Advance Man arrives, and the first place he goes is Hector Hammond's cell. Hal Jordan is either Parallax, or maybe just come back looking for redemption as The Spectre. The Advance Man directs Hammond to broadcast a message to forget the Justice League of America, to break down Earth's defenses and smooth the way for Plura, the alien insect queen. Realizing that it means all life on earth will die, Hammond sneaks a message to remember the "Justice League of A -!" before the Advance Man can stop him. There are no less than eight new Justice Leagues that spring up over the next three issues. The funniest is Plastic Man's Justice League of Anarchy, featuring The Creeper, Harley Quinn and 'Mazing Man. This is one of four - half the new Leagues - that is shown only in passing. (Plas and his League get only one panel in Justice League of Amazons 1, in my opinion probably the weakest of the bunch.) Kyle pulls together a Justice League of Air, with Black Condor, Captain Atom, Dr. Light, Firestorm, The Ray and Red Tornado, in the same issue that Mikaal Tomas (interestingly referred to only as the Starman that fell to Earth) turns down J'onn J'onzz' invitation to join his Justice League of Aliens featuring Guy Gardner, Lobo, Orion, Starfire and Superman. Guy gets in an inapropriate homophobic jab before Mikaal leaves.
Each of the League members know that something is not right, but can't put their finger on it. Batman and Nightwing debate the point as The Dark Knight assembles a Justice League of Arkham! - what the? - featuring Catwoman, Poison Ivy, The Riddler, The Joker and The Ventriloquist. You gotta admit this is pretty imaginative stuff to come up with a League that starts with an "A"!
The coolest part of the Justice Leagues fifth-week storyline is that, from Hammond's broadcast, each of the original Magnificent Seven found a League that reflects them. Okay, so Aquaman brings together all of the undersea characters; but, Wonder Woman brings together both sides of her personality, warrior and emissary. Batman does the same with his Arkham League, and so does Plastic Man. Most of the other Leagues fit the same pattern, except for maybe the Alien League. And this seems to be one of the reasons that each one of them knows something is wrong. In the brief moments when each of the Leagues interract with each other they don't get along. The personality clashes are obvious.
And now, Hal gets to form his own more pro-active Justice League of Anger. Should be interesting to see the team dynamic...I'm torn over being okay that it's only a mini-series and not an ongoing. Maybe the response can affect that...

Ok so everyone has their favorites right?? Well the last few years, getting in-n-out then back into Comics has done a number on mine. The charachter's who inhabit them really personify the best humanity has to offer. There are tons out there, Captain America, Batman, Kal-El, Hulk, Sora, Goku, Witchblade, Hal Jordan, ect ect. An there are obviously those who mean more to us than others. My personal list of favorites is long and filled, Kyle Rayner, John Stewart, Tim Drake, Wally West, Nightwing, Piccolo, Gohan, there are tons of them. Yet there's no denying the fact that their are charachter's who resonate with me more than any others. It's their exploits that keep me tied to the world of Comics. They for me are the most influential heroes out there, and their victories mean more to me than any others.
When I was younger, Superboy was my favorite Hero in all the world. He was younger, cooler, easier to deal with than Superman was. Then their was the way his powers worked, the idea that he would be all that Superman was and more, the promise that all generations hold for the ones that come before. I followed his career, watching as he grew as a hero while I grew as a man. HIs triumphs mirrored my own, and his lessons were easy for me to follow. Geoff came and took over the reigns of his future and i couldn't have been happier, Kon's future seemed assured, and i enjoyed every single one of his appearances. When he gave his life to save the Multiverse...I swore off comics, and yet i found my way back, b/c it was something i love. An now years later he's found his way back as well.
When Static Shock came on the air I was simply ecstatic, while i love heroes and comics...it's always been hard to really picture myself as them..they simply don't look like me. Yet Static does. A smart, handsome young Black man doing what's right. The show was great, and i had no trouble identifying with him. His powers covered a large range, and damn it all they were fricken cool. Even in JLU he had a part to play, and i loved seeing him as really relevant. The longer i watched, the more i liked him. I found out about his time as a comic, and went back and read them. An now he's in comics again, it's amazing fun to watch the old episodes, n him having new adventures to read is shaping into a blast.
So no sooner does Kon kick the bucket, than i start reading X-Men. An low an behold, i meet Hellion. Now while he doesn't have as deep a resonance as the rest of these dudes, he has a place. TK is simply a cold-ass power to have, and Hellion does it with fricken style. He started off as a complete an utter jack-ass, and next thing ya know he's one of the gang. From his enjoyable romance with Sofia, to his interesting match-up with X-23 his romantic life was almost as interesting as his skills. He's managed to stand against WWHulk, Nimrod, and helped out with finding the Messiah Child. The guy proved he really was a stong contender in the X-Men's arsenal. Not that high up on my favorites list, but he did a good job of filling the niche left by Kon b4 he dissapeared into Mutant obscurity.
Sodam Yat, ok now this one takes a lil bit of explaining. I love GL, now Kyle is my green Lantern of choice b/c he's who i grew up with. Yet Sodam is the realization of a childhood idea that i always thought would be fricken cool. 1 hero, with the amazing energy powers of Green Lantern and the phsyical Might of SUPERMAN!! Believe me, when i did the research and found out about his original proposal i found the comic that had it an bought a copy. An when he finally hit the scene after Rebirth, i kept an eye out for him. Since his larger role started in the SCW i've bought every issue he's appeared in, and have personally put together his entire paige. I've enjoyed his charachterization and just can't wait for him to really explode, or even to see him really cut loose.
So everybodies gotta love the JLA. You have a gathering of the most powerful members of the DCU, their most influential heroes working together to defeat threats they would almost certainly loose to on their own. Its an amazing grouping of Heroes an i can't wait to see what happens next.

Some actors are well known for their roles as superheroes; Michael Keaton and Christian Bale as Batman, Christopher Reeve as Superman, Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man or Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Supervillains are no doubt going to become more prominent the films, especially given the widespread praise of Heath Ledger as the Joker. What remains to be seen, though, is how the next set of superheroes and villains will fare in the next couple years of comic book films.
News of Kevin McKidd as Thor is no doubt exciting, as I think he's a fairly solid actor, given his work on HBO's Rome and his leading role as a time traveler in the primetime show Journeyman. Just please, please don't put a wig on him to make him look exactly like Thor. It's really not necessarily. There were murmurs of Brad Pitt playing the Norse god, or maybe even an unknown. Both options worried me, as I'd hate to see the potential of a Thor film go down the short and lonely road that Daredevil, Elektra and the Punisher took.
Once the Thor casting is filled, I'm going to be turning my attention to the next Iron Man film, as I'm really looking forward to seeing Don Cheadle as War Machine. Also, I'm anxious to see a Wonder Woman, Captain Marvel and maybe even Aquaman film, so that in several years they can roll out a legendary Justice League film. Probably not likely, but hey, a guy can dream.
What're your thoughts on this?

- Brandon Routh is another ok choice for Superman because he did a good job in Superman Returns.
- The Smallville TV Show Justice League Team should be apart of the movie except for Impulse (Bart Allen) and Cyborg (Victor Stone) they should be in the Teen Titans Movie.
- Use the Smallville Actors who have played Justice League of America members.
- DC Comics Movies should do crossover like Marvel Comics Movies are doing and they will work with all characters including Nolan's Batman Universe it just needs to be well written and done right.
- The Villians should be either Darkseid, Brainiac, Doomsday, and The White Martians.
- The Comic Book Source Material should be Justice League of America: Year One mainly but other important story arcs and volumes should be used as well.

Warner Bros. Movies Sets New Plan Into Motion
Warners is happy with the success of The Dark Knight, as they should be. Although they're still feeling the sting over Marvel's recent successes in the comic based movies. It seems rather than crank out movie after movie, they want to slow down and focus on actually putting out good movies. What a strange concept. I'm all for really great comic-based movies. We don't need to see mediocre or just plain horrible adaptions just because the market is hot. It's hard to revive a stinker when movie-goers have a bad taste in their mouth.
Surprisingly, it seems Warners is planning on re-booting Superman rather than continue from Superman Returns. Okay, maybe it's not too surprising. It was a really good movie but did have its faults. Seems Superm/Batman is on hold also.
This is what the Wall Street Journal had to report:
Warner Bros. Pictures Group President Jeff Robinov wants the studio to release as many as eight such movies a year by 2011.
A movie referred to internally as "Justice League of America," originally said to be for next summer, was planned as one of the studio's major releases. With that film, starring a superhero team, Warner hoped to spark interest in DC characters like Green Lantern who haven't yet attained the level of popularity of Batman. But script problems, among other things, have delayed the movie.
Warner Bros. also put on hold plans for another movie starring multiple superheroes -- known as "Batman vs. Superman" -- after the $215 million "Superman Returns," which had disappointing box-office returns, didn't please executives. "'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to," says Mr. Robinov. "It didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned." "Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009," he adds. "But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all."
The studio is set to announce its plans for future DC movies in the next month. For now, though, it is focused on releasing four comic-book films in the next three years, including a third Batman film, a new film reintroducing Superman, and two movies focusing on other DC Comics characters. Movies featuring Green Lantern, Flash, Green Arrow, and Wonder Woman are all in active development.
