We know that DC is launching JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA with Geoff Johns and David Finch as the creative team. This morning, they've announced that there will be some variant covers for the issue. There will be 52 of them, one for each state (as well as Washington D.C. and Puerto Rico).

As for the big news, two of the members above will be getting their own ongoing series in February as well. Some of them already do so that narrows it down. Rather than sit and try to guess, we'll just tell you. Vibe and Katana will be getting solo series.

KATANA will be written by Ann Nocenti and illustrated by Alex Sanchez. JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA'S VIBE will have a first issue co-plotted by Geoff Johns with series regular writer Andrew Kreisberg with art by Pete Woods.

A last bit of JLA-related news is GREEN ARROW will be getting a new creative team as well starting with issue 17. Jeff Lemire will be writing with Andrea Sorrentino (I, VAMPIRE) handling the art. That definitely is an interesting choice as the two have been killing it on their other titles.

I'm VERY interested to see what Lemire does with Green Arrow. I loved Krul's run on the character but that's about it.

Katana I get (shes the best part of birds of prey imo) but Vibe? they should have given it to Martian Manhunter instead

well here's 2 series I'm not going to buy. Books are expensive enough already. Get good writers on books that had potential and failed. Try Hawk and Dove again with the brothers instead.

I think DC's problem with launching books in the New 52 has been and is that they release almost everything as open-ended series. IMHO what they should do, especially with new characters like NuDCU Vibe, who haven't had a bit of exposure (while Katana's been in Birds Of Prey) is introduce them in a mini-series (like what they're doing with Phantom Lady & Doll Man). And if the series does well just say it's not a mini series any more and got promoted to ongoing series status. No need for a new #1, just keep the number going.

The panel at NYCC for this suprisingly hyped me up for it. When they explained how a lot of them didnt really want to be there. Excited to see how the new Stargirl is gonna be in here. And heres to hoping Catwoman is rewritten after that god awful solo run she had... As for everyone else on the team... meh...

I feel is a little too little too late case, and Katana with Nocenti feels very sad, I was excited when i heard the rumors of a Katana ongoing but Nocenti completely destroyed Catwoman in just 1 issue and her Green Arrow has been boring and uninspired

Damn, this probably means I, Vampire is getting cancelled then. Which would explain the rumor of it ending around issue 17/18 to wrap up the story. Shame to see such an amazing book go.

But I am so pumped to finally be able to read Green Arrow again!

JLA honestly seems like the series where failing characters are going to die. Green Arrow, Catwoman, Hawkman.... all terrible books. And Ann Nocenti hasn't had a good track record with DC. Katana, while an interesting character, is probably gonna suck under her. However, Vibe piques my interest. But why does he get a book before Martian Manhunter?!?!?!

However, if anyone can inject some life into Oliver Queen, it's Jeff Lemire. Here's a hint: START BY BRINGING BACK THE VAN-DYKE, THEN MAKE HIM A COMMUNIST AGAIN. I want a hero committed to social justice, NOT HAWKEYE.

Wait, I take that back. Fraction's Hawkeye run is ACTUALLY GOOD.

Who cares about everyone else? I just want to see Steve Trevor use those guns! But seriously Jeff Lemire writing Green Arrow sounds exciting to me since I'm loving Animal Man right now. I don't know anything about Vibe or Katarama so I'll wait for some reviews to hit before giving those a try.

Katana I like, she is a cool character and I am a little excited for her solo, but, honestly I have no idea what they'd do with her. She never struck me as a character who can carry her own title.
