Sure he is. He prepares extensively and gets entrenched in his roles(Just look at how dedicated to his current gig as Hercules) and is fairly versatile. What makes him not real?

Because he is a major cos-player.

He's not a true actor. He lucked out because Hunter turned down a role thinking it was a joke. He became a star because he was the most popular and famous entertainer of the late 90's/early 00's. 10 years later and he's still riding that train. You can't tell me you think he has serious acting skills.

Sure he is. Like I already mentioned he's extremely dedicated and committed towards all the roles he has taken on, he has incredible amounts of charisma which helps him connect with crowds and such, and he absolutely excels in action based movies(He's been praised as the bright spot of action franchises like Fast and Furious) Your entire argument for Rock not being a legit actor is that he got himself into the industry via the momentum he built for himself as a WWE performer, which makes no sense. So if someone doesn't start out entirely as an unknown working their way through the acting industry, they aren't legit? There are numerous actors in Hollywood whom got themselves in the industry through being famous in other work areas and subsequently built themselves into good actors. Again, I'm not saying that Rock is Marlon Brando or some Oscar worthy actor, but given his approach to the business, I think it's a disservice to say he's not a real actor. Just my two cents.

I appreciate the Rock for what he is and what he does but he wouldn't work in a superhero movie. It'd be the same thing if Ryan Gosling played the Flash.. I wouldn't see the Flash onscreen - I'd see Ryan Gosling. Doesn't really work out in my mind, I can't explain it too well.

For people hating on The Rock as Shazam.

I was skeptical at first too. But you have to remember, Billy Batson is a 12-15 year old boy, even when he turns into Cap. The Rock is best when he is in 'goofier' roles, and the idea of him playing an adult who is literally a kid makes sense to me.
