You put too much thought into the Emblem. It's simple, Johns needed Bats to be abducted by parademons. If they saw he was the same Bat guy who's been fighting them they would have just attacked. I'm sure there's no big explanation the importance of the removable emblem. Unless it doubles as a cellophane trap or something.

Also, how long to we see the New Gods?
I do not thing we will. There is only one issue left and so far, this is just your basic alien invasion.

I'm perfectly OK with Batman's costume having insane features but him revealing who he is antithetical to Batman's nature.
In Waid's JLA, it made sense because he had known them and fought by their side for years, this was right after Tower of Babel and he felt like he needed to regain their trust.
The problem here is that he has known Hal for a few hours, does not like him, has no reason to trust him and revealing his identity serves absolutely no purpose.
TBH this entire new JL makes no sense to me. Its been on a downward spiral story wise since issue 1.

I think Johns was watching Superman II when he came up with the idea for the removable bat.

I'm glad someone's writing Batman "wrong". I hate him now
Geoff is doing the same thing to Wondy :)
In the second issue it said the police wanted to figure out who the flash was so how can they not have him?
This Justice League book is supposed to take place 5 years before the current Green Lantern and Batman. Maybe, Batman showed his identity to Hal but, then something happens down the line and now he more like Scott Snyder's interruption. I trust Geoff Johns. He will do right by us. Everything he does will be explained soon enough. Don't hate yet. Hate down the road. I'm gonna hate if Jim Lee doesn't do 12 issues! Let's talk about that. Jim ain't doing shit. He's got no DC Online now. He can draw... I don't want excuses. Keep it up Jim!
This is dedinitly. A swriea ill be dropping. Im spending $4 on a title that has cheesy cliche dialouge and its too short! This title should only be $3. Ill be dropping this title for either batman inc. Or worlds finest
Anyone who was actually paying attention to the issue would see exactly why Batman revealed his identity. It makes perfect sense! He just gave GL a huge speech about this battle being more important than him and his priorities, or batman's. Revealing his identity proves this. GL needed to get over his lone ranger attitude, and batman needs to show he trusts him, if their are going to stop Darkseid. And Batman's emblem makes sense too. Bats is ready for anything. We've seen him pull crazier curve balls than that before, it shows great planning on his part: classic bat-move!
@christopher84: No it's not a classic Bat move, I read this comic and it makes no sense why Bruce just took off his mask along with getting rid of the cape and symbol just to run off to Apokolips. He has no gliding ability now and I don't see the purpose of ripping the symbol off his chest.
It stinks!
OK... maybe doesn't stick, but its not the best at all. I read it because I think its an interesting spin on it, but it goes down in my pile of books every wednesday.
I don't like how GL comes off as a fool with a power ring, o how GL and Bat's relationship was like an old cop comedy. The serious cop and then the funny rookie cop. Then Flash is now helping GL blend in with the league by telling him to be calm. Since when is flash the face of reason? And come on with "Wow this is a strange and different world" angle that they're playing up with Wonder Woman. Really? The Ice cream is what shocked her? Really?
I do like Batman's new feel. he's more badass than the originals. I don't know what they'll do with Aquaman, but I like it so far. I also like the origin story of Cyborg.
In conclusion, i read this for fun. It somehow keeps my attention cause I want to see where it goes (but then again, I've been known to stay in abusive relationships too long, so... this might be bad).
@Omega-Man : I'm totally with you, there are so many things wrong with it.
First.. Batman whole thing is be a secret ninja. And this is the first time he's ever met GL. GL even says "you're real?" and he decides to trust him with his biggest secret?!?! In public?!?! I don't even pee that openly.
Second... What? A guy in a cape is conspicious but a human on Apokolips is not? He would of been better off lurking in the shadows like he always does.
@BigMatt: Even so heres another one, a human wearing armour thats obviously not from Apokolips. That whole scene made no sense to me at all. Another thing also Hal must have his head up in the clouds as he doesn't know who Bruce Wayne is? Really? a billionaire playboy who owns one of the biggest companies in the DCU? and He doesn't know him? Wow really bad wrighting there and I don't care if they are new to each other thats like saying who is Donald Trump.
lol what a retarded book, the more i read this book the more i realized geoff johns hatred towards Batman. it seems that he'll do everything to ruin Batman character and popularity as DC#1 and good luck with that geoff cos no matter what you do Batman will and always be king of DCU!

yep, it was pretty stupid.
i dont think you understood , Batman saw that hal is a true hero and will die for what he does ,so he respects that and tells him who he is because its not about him anymore.
@deadpool25mm: I understand and its dumb. There have been countless times in the past where this has happened and Batman wasn't shortsighted enough to do something like that. If that was his litmus test for showing people his true identity then he's would be as outed as Daredevil.
The only thing i found shocking ws that batman revealed his identity but withing the context of what is happening he got through to Hal and he just turned the loose cannon into a field general. I was kind of shocked that hal did not know who bruce wayne was too.
Batman is clearly the strategist of the team and will get supes back.
Good issue.
What are they doing with Darkseid?
Darkseid is a God. He would not demean himself by engaging in physical combat with these mortals who have yet to prove their worth. Everything he has done so far is beneath him.
What about what he's done has been physical combat? The way I see it, he showed up and started zapping them like flies. He didn't even say anything. I think it's been very true to his character. What are they doing with Darkseid?

He also let Green Lantern hit him. He slammed the ground and then broke GL's arm.
All that is beneath him. He has countless subjects and minions to do his bidding. He has no reason to exert any effort when his pawns can do the work for him.
Ok, fair enough. But it's not like he did it out of pain or anger. He just did it, easily and nonchalantly.@Kal'smahboi said:

I have MANY questions, but in Jim Lee (and Geoff Johns to a lesser extent) I trust, so I'm riding it out. It's "edge-of-my-seat action" if nothing else.
Say what you want but Batman revealing himself to Hal was extremely out of character. Oh well I guess. Johns doens't have to use so much shock value. It's coming off kinda hack-ish.
