So anyways this is what happend Lex is about to kill Superman Firestorm comes and stops it by turning his kryptonite knife into a toy one. The bad guys are about to gang on Firestorm but he tells them that he let the rest of the team out. The Justice League of America take down the bad guys pretty easlily. Black Lightning and Firestorm find Red tornado and he says that he has to switch to a new body to save alive but then they are attacked by grodd Firestorm takes him out pretty easliy. At the end the Justice League tie up the villans they captured (Some got away) and the Suicide squad comes and takes the villains away. Firestorm also joins the team.
I like that Black Canary is shown as being team leader here, rather than lip service and just having her name engraved on a big gavel. That said, I also thought that Batman being utterly insubordinate was in character for him (he totally "does not play well with others"). Hoping that this is foreshadowing for Batman getting a good talking-to, or even being kicked off the team (to go start Outsiders); I'll be disappointed if he continues to get away with doing his own thing while paying lip service to teamwork.
I liked that Batman being able to pick locks with a ballpoint pen. In many books, Batman does a lot of things I think are unreasonable; for example I don't think he should be able to beat Circe in a duel of magic, and I don't think he should be able to outfight a superspeedster like Cheetah (without either prep or some sort of cheating). I totally buy that he's a master escape artist, though.
A lot of good fighting in this issue. Heck, the whole issue was one big fight. I liked that each character got a few panels to shine in, at least; this is pretty tough considering how big the team is. I like seeing that the hero team pulls together when things get tough, but the villain team starts having people run away like rats fleeing a sinking ship; that feels right.
I thought it was telling that Roy lets Cheshire get away. I guess you gotta give the mother of your kid a break, even if she is a mass murderess.
I got a laugh out of the Black Canary/Giganta fight too, that was great. In fairness, I don't really think BC is powerful enough that she should be able to beat Giganta -- though I really love BC so I'm not sorry that she did. Giganta must have a glass jaw or something, she gets knocked out a lot.
I thought it was a little inconsistent that Wonder Woman stops Cheetah from executing Dr Light, but the team basically lets Geo-Force drop Gorilla-Grodd into a crevasse, then slam it shut. Not that Geo-Force didn't have ample provocation, but surely that was lethal intent there.
Was nice to see Hal show up to support the team.
I liked the editorial note that placed this story in relation to other stories (apparently, this story is before the Wedding Specials). Though this still doesn't quite add up since a lot of the villains captured here, ALSO crash the wedding. But at least they're trying to give us a sort of timeline.
