Exactly What I Was Hoping For
The Good: Aaron Lopresti's art continues to be excellent.
I really like how the team is coming together. After a disastrous first battle, the team has to start picking up the pieces and get their act together. And they do! In a way that works so well. And the dialogue of the interplay between the various characters is even better. This is exactly what I was hoping for after what I read of the original JLI, this has already started to achieve the same level of comedy/action balance with the same level of clashing egos as the original.
Really, that's the big thing that drew me in so I have to focus on it. All the subtle relationships between characters are developing, setting the tone for the entire series to follow. We have now seen the team REALLY get together, just in time for the main plot to get far more interesting, setting up an epic threat.
The dialogue was just so damn good.
The Bad: No Blue Beetle?
In Conclusion: I loved the first issue a lot, and this one was even better. This is very much the JLI I fell in love with, and really, there's not a whole lot more I need to say. It all comes down to the characters, and the dynamic of the team. THAT is what makes JLI what it is. And this is that.
