Giffen and DeMatteis are not Gods?

No,  Giffen and DeMatteis are not Gods?  This is a disappointment to me because I pretty much believed they were.  But not even the great Giffen and DeMatteis could polish the turd that in known as the Millennium story arch.  Look I think Millennium is the worse giant cross-over I ever read in DC Comic so if you like Millennium you may not agree with me.  First of all only four JLI members are even in the book and only one plays a large roll.  That is not always a bad thing.  There just wasn't the chemistry that has been in previous issues of the Justice League international (JLI).  The main story takes eight heroes to attack the Manhunter planet and destroy it.  The team do this with a greater ease than sweeping a floor.  There was absolutely no suspense at all for a major action packed cross-over.  Not that I have G'Nort or anything but he was the best part of this book.  When G'Nort is the best part of the book i would say there is a problem as he in only good in small doses.

The second story was not important or particularly funny it seemed to be just filler.  It was not much better than the Hostess Cupcake adds you use to see in comics in the late 70's and early 80's.  All that being said.  This book is one of the better Millennium books.  There was also a millennium cross over in the previous issue and that was handled really well.

Giffen and DeMatteis really made this book about as well as if could be done considering the boundries they had.  The art for the first story is well done but the second story is a little odd in comparison.  The characters are a little more cartoony in the second story.  Don't get me wrong it was not bad but it is much more unique.  Over all I gave this book 3.5 stars.  I know that is a lot compared to what i said about it but it is not even close to the worst books I've read.  You could take it or leave it.

This issue was part of the Millennium crossover event which swept through the DC universe in the 80s.   The company was looking to replicate the success of Crisis on Infinite Earths and was coming out with a universe wide crossover every year or so at the time.   Millenium was a decent enough concept.   That a new race of Guardians is being created and the Manhunters want to stop them by any means necessary.   Part of the counterattack by Earth’s heroes involves launching an att...
